GM 3 Bar MAP Sensor Install
GM 3 Bar MAP Sensor Install
I bought a GM MAP sensor, (not boost solenoid) locally for pretty cheap. I have been logging with Mitsulogger and using ECUflash to tune and know what to do about the formula / ROM changes, just not the physical install.
I have searched on and off for a couple of weeks now and haven't found any specific information for installing the sensor, only for the boost solenoid. Here is a picture of what I have, note it just has 1 vaccum line nipple and the wire harness. Can I use this? If so can someone point me in the right direction? Do I leave the stock sensor in the intake manifold and splice this one into those wires?
Thanks

....yeah? I'm not sure what other way you would install it
A few companies make plates that are adapters from the MDP sensor fitting to a nipple. AMS has one (I actually have a used one still). Not technically necessary, but it might make for a cleaner install.

Note that it has a limitation of 29psi, I even find my 3.5 bar sensor's 35psi limitation annoying sometimes.
As far as hooking it up goes, there is a stock sensor that you use to hook it up. It is from the sensor that is bolted on the top of the manifold. It is the Manifold Differential Pressure Sensor on the stock car. You unplug the sensor and wire it into your MAP sensor. Don't leave it plugged in as you would be getting two different signals across the same wire which I can only imagine as being a bad thing
I just left my stock sensor bolted into the manifold unplugged. I also never chop the plugs off, I just tape them up and splice into the harness in case you ever need to go back to stock for some reason.
