disabling engine code?
disabling engine code?
hey all,
I recently bought the tatrix cable, and it is my first time getting into the whole tuning scene. As I have read from the sticky, Im just starting off with doing some datalogging first. While figuring out the evoscan, I found a way to disable/erase the engine code that I have been getting. Its the p0420.
I've tried disabling the code several times before with autozone scanner tool, but it seemed to appear again within a day or two. and the same thing happened when i did it with evo scan.
My question is, is there a way to have it completely gone without messing with ecu flash, or does that happen only when the tuning of the ecu takes place.
Any help is appreciated!
Thank you

Cat efficiency code p0420 can be disabled in a numerous set of ways.
BUT since you have no ecuflash I think you're limited to mechanical fixes being the easiest and cheapest solution for you. Get 2 spark plug anti foulers at your locoal auto place. Drill out only 1 of them and screw then together with the drilled out one being on top. Screw that into the o2 sensor place and the o2 sensor will be able to screw into it if you drilled out the second o2 fouler enough.
Reset your code and go for the tune of about 7 dollars in parts.

The best solution ecuflash wise is to use the o2 simulator but that means putting in a different rom I wouldn't recommend that as the first thing a newbie tries. Do the anti fouler fix first and learn if you want about changing to a tephra rom with o2 simulation built in.
ok. thanks, i will try the anti fouler fix first.
The code says bank 1..I read that i alot of people get this for putting in a tp or hfc.. Im assuming bank 1 should be the one in engine bay.. or is this the one for the hfc?

it will always be bank 1 we don't have a V style motor (v6+) the code you specified said cat efficiency anyways so its definitely sensor 2 in bank 1.
