rev limit

Who has experienced a soft cut despite increasing the rev limit?

Sounds like boost/fuel cut.

Boost/fuel cut is not a "soft" cut.

It's much more abrupt then the rev limiter, as in, throw you out the windshield.

I have a feeling maybe his XML isn't defined correctly for his ROM ID.

This is true...Is it tuned? Could be alot of knock, ecu pulls timing, creating a "soft" cut.

Also is it a "cut" or a rev limit type deal. There is a differnce.

Definetly not a fuel cut. No knock detected nor det via det cans.

rom definition is good, could rev alot higher before but something is causing it to soft cut in 5th gear at 7500 rpm.

I have increased the speed limiter too.

Any ideas?

Soft cut like a rev limiter? Only in 5th gear at 7500 rpm?

I still think your ROM XML Def could be incorrect. What do you see as those values (rev limiter and speed limiter) before you touch them?

im curious to know as well, mine is at 7600 rev limit, 5000 rev limit sitting still (two step set up i do believe) and speed reads at like 510 k/mh (enable/disable speeds)

rev limit is set to 9004, speed limit is set to 220 on 210 off kph, but the UK cars are converted to mph so the speed limit represents mph but labeled kph in the rom. In 5th gear at 7500 rpm it reaches 186mph then soft cuts, no knock/det. Originally it was set to 184 on 174 off from factory, perhaps changing those values are not doing anything???

I have been able to rev to 9500 rpm before with the same ecu and rom.

The soft cut is present in 4th too, well on the dyno.

Would a faulty intake temp sensor be in any way related to this? most likely not...

razorlab, how can I test the speed limit tables or confirm they are correct values or a true representation of the values?...

The boost limiting speed and speed limit have the same definition, so most likely the speed limit definition is incorrect, the address value in the xml is 118e. ?

The ECU doesn't do any form of soft cut anywhere...does it?

If so...we should use it to our advantage.

Not a misfire or anything like that?

I think Oracle1 needs to define better what he means by "soft-cut".

Does he mean like the rev limiter or something different?

100% not fuel cut nor mis-fire.

It's like hitting a rev limiter in 5th gear only at 7500 rpm (bounces of the rev at 7500 rpm although limiter set to 9k rpm) and the speed reached is 186 mph, I think it is hitting the speed limiter that is causing it to cut the rev at 7500 rpm.

Anyone can confirm the definition in the rom is correct?

?

easy way woud be to set it at say 5000rpm and see if u get the rev cut... atleast rules out the defination part.
