FIC 1100 tip-in issue

Hoping that someone can help with my tip-in hesitation and unusual injector noise after installing some FIC 1100's.

Startup and cruise is the same or better than stock, it's just the initial tip-in that has a problem. I haven't tried going above cruise loads just in case the injectors aren't happy.

Scaling - 1083

Latencies
4.6875 - 5.352
7.03125 - 3.36
9.375 - 1.992
11.7188 - 1.392
14.0625 - 1.008
16.4062 - 0.84
18.6768 - 0.72

Fuel trims low and mid are consistently +/- 1.5%

Mods are S1 cams, exhaust, GM 3 port. New Mil Spec throttle seals have been installed and I now have no boost leaks. I've got a BBK turbo waiting to go in and plan to try e85 soon too.

The tip-ip issue duration was origially much longer and made the car a pain to drive with bogging down due to over fuelling, so I tried reducing the async IPW down from 4ms to 2ms since the 1100's are double the size of stock injectors. This helped get the injectors to where they are now. Reducing the async IPW any further doesn't help.

I've included a log attachement showing a couple of tip-in's in case that helps.

Here's a vid of the noise i'm talking about. The injectors are a little noisier than stock, which is fine, but that's not the only noise they make...

interesting that they are rich on tip-in. if anything, mine are a tiny bit leaner than stock on tip-in. did you compare your latency and scaling values to what other people have gotten?

The latencies were actually based off the figures you posted up for your own injectors and they only needed a few small changes. The scaling is higher - 1083 compared to most others running around 975.

I thought the scaling seemed a bit high. Makes me wonder if you got a bad injector.

Is there an easy way to tell other than swapping in another set?

Mine are at 975 as well.

I've having cold running issues with mine at the moment. Its winter here, car starts cold and warm perfect, but engine runs like crap when driving until its up to temp. Barely driveable and very embarrassing.

Sounds like a different issue to mine. If it's fine when warm then that suggests that it could be a tuning issue. Do you have the low temp timing map zero'd?

Any suggestions for what to do next with my issue?

I have 2 maps called Ignition Warmup Timing Correction 1 & 2. I haven't touched those maps and map 1 has -6 and -9 from 40 to 90 loan in the 1250 to 2500 rpm range. Map 2 is all zeros. I'll give that a try.

Sorry I can't help with your problem. Yours sound noisier than mine thou

Sorry for stealing your thread, tried zeroing map 1, didn't make any difference, maybe slightly worse.

I've tried pulling each injector plug out one at a time to isolate where the noise is coming from and found that they all make the noise, so maybe this is normal? Doesn't explain why tip-in is rich though.

Even though the trims look good, is it possible there's something wacky going on with my scaling and larencies, or something else in the fuel system?

Mine don't make any different noise to stock.

My scaling is 975

Latency

5.376
3.6
2.304
1.608
1.248
0.912
0.840
Trims are both 1-2%

That noise is very odd indeed. I am not sure what that is or if I have ever heard it before.

Whats the fuel map look vs load right there?

Well if you haven't heard it before, there must be something unusual going on.

The fuel map has a big block of 14.7's in that area going all the way up to 80 load and down to 4000 rpm.

Something odd and possibly unrelated is your TPS value of 5%. That should be 13.33 min in my experience. Is lean spool still on? I dont normally sweat the rich tip in (E85 seems to like it for best torque prior to spool) but that clack seems louder than what I have experienced before. That is all injector and no valvetrain noise?

Ok, so the rich tip-in is fine then, particularly once the bbk lite goes in and I switch to e85.

Tps has always been at around 5% at idle and full throttle has been slightly less than 100%. I can adjust the tps and use evoscan to monitor the position. Is 13.33 the ideal setting?

The clack you can hear is the injectors. They're still clearly audible from outside the car with the bonnet ( hood for you ) down and drown out any valvetrain noise. With oem injectors I didn't notice them making a noise unless I got up really close with the bonnet open.
