Scaling and ECU Boost control ?'s

Hi all,

New to this and trying to sort out scaling.

I'm running grimspeed along with JDM EVO 9 sensor.
TephraMOD-96530706-v7.xml

1. Which scaling should I select and what is the difference between the two

PSIa8 JDM3barMAP
PSIa8 JDM3barMAP-Adj

2. It looks like the current tune has values in Main Map Wastegate Duty only,
no values in
Boost Desired Engine 'Load' or Boost Desired Engine 'PSI'

Under 'Global Boost Control 'Type'
Variable for Boost Control is set to Load(898A)

I don't see anything that would allow for Boost Correction,
which I'm concerned about.

BBK Full,
Kelford 272,
ETS IC pipes,
Buschur street fmic,
ported exhaust manifold
Walbro,
PTE 780,
Perrin intake,
Grimmspeed,
Synchronic DV,
Spoolinup COP,

1. Im fairly certain that the "adj" is a custom scaling that people use/modify to accomodate their local atmospheric pressure. Hopefully someone else can clarify, but Im not currently using any "adj" scaling.

2. The combination of Desired Psi (or Load), Error Correction table (load or psi), and Adder (load or psi) is where the Boost Correction comes from.

The Desired Psi (or load) tables are in a different section than the Global settings. I think the section is called Main Map Boost Control. You will also have a section called Alternate Map Boost Control with some of the same tables. You use the same adder and correction tables for Alternate and Main boost control. The WGDC and Desired Psi (or load) tables are specific to the map you are on (Main or Alt).

I'm good with #2.

Hopefully someone can clarify #1. They are different equations, so I want to make sure I'm using correct scale.

My default "adj" setting for the Omni is the same formula (x/(4.23*2)) + 12. For the JDM, its the same formula (x/(5.18*2)) + 7. Neither of those sound like an atmospheric adder, but it seems they could be modified and used that way. But either way, with the non-adj scalings my psi tables are spot on with the gauge. Thats what I think you should use.

Not really. Just spent a lot of time reading the various threads on the subject. And like I said previously, once you get in and start messing with the tables and seeing the result; it will just start to make sense. Best advice is to just start slowly and conservative and get out and see how it changes.

Im in love with ECU boost control now. That $35 IR solenoid has been my #1 mod so far. It hits so much harder and stays smoother than my old MBC ever did. That plus weather correction, gear correction, and the boost drop safety conditions make it that much more of a WIN.
