heres a snip of the trouble 3rd gear log, and the second one is the 4th gear log. timing too aggressive? im trying to target afr of 11.5 after spool and have made another map to try when i have time, but i feel like i need to take some timing out even though the car is making good power for only 23 psi.

4th gear

Looks like too much timing to me, I know mine doesn't take that much (91 octane)

After looking through countless maps and trying to learning this stuff it looks a bit much around 6300 and up.

FWIW, I'm on 93, I run from 5(mostly)-6 or so through 4-5500 then up to 7-8 @ 7500.

Ya, just gotta keep plugin away and filling the tank!!!

Is last column knock count?

duh, forgot to mention this is 93 octane, although that may have become apparent already. the last column is knock, yes.

easy enough, ill pull some timing out of the top, im gonna leave the mid range for now and see what happens once i lean it out a tad more since i like the torque curve too much at this point and i had 2 runs with 0 knock.

next project is to get up and running on the 3 port.

Id pull a degree out at 3200 and run 6* from 4250-4700. And pull that 14 out of 6850. Are you logging temp? Just wondering if that 4th gear pull has some heat soak.

If your trying to tune with lean spool enabled take a look at this thread. Lots of good info here. Paul and a few others 03whitegsr i think? have done quite a bit of trial and error stuff with lean spool settings.

tuning with ls enabled

im aware of that thread yeah. LS isnt shut off yet, but the stop rpm is set to 3500 right now so i left it alone since im still trying to dial in 4k up and not spool yet.

Maf temp could give you a rough idea. But you wouldnt know for sure unless you had a sensor in the uicp or intake.

almost all of the runs so far have been ambient temps in the 70s and a minimum of 85% humidity.

i run the stock intake scoop, which actually dropped the temps at the maf a significant amount, as i basically see ambient during a pull.

if im heatsoaking an ETS 3.5 inch that easily...somethings wrong. so i dunno...maybe ill stick an IAT sensor in the uicp when im on vacation next week...depends how much i feel like dragging out the welder lol.

You have an 8 so the timing will be different anyway. You run extremely low timing for an 8 though at redline. I think the OP's map does not look too far off anyway, usually I see peak torque timing anywhere between 2-4 degrees up to 12-14 at redline on the 9's.

Id say your prob fine then. That IC and the intake scoop should take care of it.

Is your ETS 3.5 a Garrett core or their standard core? Although I live in Florida where we are still seeing 90* temps, I had a heatsoak problem with my 3 inch ETS on their older core. I switched to a Buschur Street core and picked up 30whp on vdr, no other changes made.

not sure, it was on the car when i bought it. records have it being bought/installed in about may of 09. time and increased boost will tell me the real story. i really doubt i will pick up 30 with a different ic, in fact i doubt i would pick up much of anything, the car seems to be right on par power wise for the boost level, but who knows. i need to iron out the tune before i make any judgments.

I didn't expect to either. All I'm saying is that not all intercoolers are created equal.
