ECU Boost on JDM Evo VIII

Hi all,

As you all are aware, or should be aware I guess. The JDM VIII does not come with a factory map sensor like the USDM VIII does.

On your ECU's I think pin #73 goes to the factory map sensor.

I don't have anything in pin #73 so my friend as I were discussing possibly putting a connector in there that's wired to the output wire of my electronic AEM boost gauge and changing up values in ECUFlash/EvoScan and then start reading/controlling boost through the ECU.

Has anyone ever attempted this?

Here's the JDM VIII pinout:

I use pin 73 for my LC-1 logging with 3C, and pin 92 for my MAP sensor logging with 38. If your rom ID is 96260009 then I think that you'll need to change the address at 3C to 8409, but if you're on 93660005, then you won't have to change any addresses - I didn't.

I thought the JDM evos came with better map sensors than the USDM? My JDM IX has a factory 3 bar map sensor, I thought VIIIs would be the same.

Yeh the JDM IX comes with a map sensor from factory but the JDM VIII's have none.

JDM 8's are the unlucky ones. Got a shop to drill and tap my intake manifold to fit the map sensor. At least the intake still had the mounting boss.

I guess I'm on a USDM ROM right? I think? Lol.
Wondering if I can run a wire from pin #73 to my AEM Boost Gauge's output wire?

Pin #73 is map sensor signal for USDM Evo VIII

Just noticed the USDM VIII ECU has 4 connections on the back also, vs the 3 on the back of my JDM VIII ECU.

Don't worry that it's a USDM rom. It just matters that you have the 3 plug ECU. Pin 73 will be fine. If for some reason you end up with issues, it'll be easy enough to convert you to 96260709. It the rom I run.

Hyper... You around? What's the easiest way to get me to log boost in EvoScan right now? I have an AEM digital boost gauge if that helps lol

Hey, have you wired it up to pin 73 yet? Or 92 or 93 as they are the spare pins that are ADC's. I'm not running 9653 so then I can only suggest you log 3C for pin 73, or 38 for pin 92 or 39 for pin 93.

Nope, haven't wired anything up yet, just want to be sure before I start messing with the ECU like that!
