Question why is my load so high ?

long story short, hit 265 load at ~14 psi, also AirFlow Hz hit 1575 @~7K RPM, thats nearly max, the last value in maf scaling table is 1610
no major boost leaks according to my last check, only from bov

my question is, why can the load be so high, also maf Hz. and what happens when maf reading exeeds its last value in the table (1610)

car is evo4, 2.3 with S2 cams, 10.5 turbo, stock intake piping and cone filter

please, any help is welcome

More VE= more airflow=more load

I know that, but everyone see such high values on strokers ?

so you think it's normal ?

what about maf reading I've mentioned above ?

You will still have resolution over 1600hz, but will have to log 2 byte airflow to get a reading over 1600hz on your logger. Currently I am seeing 2950hz airflow on my stock block car with a TAK33r.

lots of thanks for claryfying that. actually its not much important for me to log that, just interested if the maf was functional above that value.

265 is too high for 14psi/stock turbo, check for boost leaks.

What rpm are you hitting 265 load? Can you post a log?

The log doesn't contain boost for comparison! does boost read 14psi also around 4k? your boost gauge might be faulty, try a different gauge, otherwise, such gab between boost & load might be an indication of a boost leak.

IV's don't have map sensor, so no boost logging. an yes, that 14 psi was peak arounf 4K. as for leaks, tested today and have leak from bov, but not such critycal to be the cause of such big load

will bump this thread up, maby someone will post something interesting for me

post for geekmapped forum, I'm not alone

IŽve also experienced this recently with an Evo 6 that has 2.2L strocker, Kelford 272, Cosworth Heads, 20g turbo and 660 injectors.

ItŽs using a USDM Evo 8 ECU + MAF, itŽs been checked for leaks and IŽve advised the owner to make sure again; the thing is weŽre seing up to 360 load and 2500 Hz airflow at about 25-26 psi. IŽm not sure if the added displacement and other mods are going to make it read so high, and injectors are hitting 100% (scaled to 597cc using USA Evo 513/560 as ratio).

The problem is that it is making about the same power as other Evo VII IŽve tuned with only basic bolt ons and that remains within 1800 - 1900 Hz in airflow, so in other words all that airflow reaching 2500 Hz in this car is not translating into power as it should, both cars are tunned to 11.3 AFR. The Evo VII has stock injectors scaled to 542 like normal JDM/EDM.

For this Evo 6 with 8 ECU IŽm using Tephra V7 96530706 and for an Evo VII IŽve used the same V7 96530706 that is adapted for the 7 (has all the same tables, maf scalings, etc) yet the loads and airflows are much lower for just about the same power. So IŽm not pushing the Evo 6 much as it feels wrong to be hitting such high load and airflow with maybe only 60 whp more than a stock car. Something seems to be inflating the readings about 25-30 %

Hi Stunt2, I made that post in geekmapped. This last Sunday I went over the mentioned Evo 6 and it has a TCC Work type 2 bov that seems to be a pos. So I suspect that above 19 - 20 psi this car is having some massive boost leak that hasnŽt been diagnosed well. That would explain the "low" power and very high maf hz and load, so IŽve asked the owner to source a good reliable bov and weŽll have a retune when he gets it.

Might be a couple of weeks at least but IŽll post the results here. The other Evos IŽve tuned make far more power (specially at midrange) with fewer mods and like 500 - 600 Hz and 70 load lower than this particular car. This Evo 6 doesnŽt have a strong exhaust sound like it should with a TBE, its more of an engine struggling noise. His compression checks out good, so I really hope a better bov will make the difference, good luck with your case.

Guys, just wonder will there be any effect on a boost leak from a plumb back bov?
