ECU flash for 2011 world market evo X

Hi there guys..

I come from the Honda community and tuning is very simple on B/D/K platforms as there are several plug and play solutions like the Hondata, aem, etc...

But I'm currently building a 600hp sst evo X and I'm a little concerned about the tuning as the build should be complete soon. (will be doing the supporting mods to the transmission too)

I was about to get a Cobb AP to do the tuning but I have contacted them and they said that the unit would not suit thia car as it is an World Market '11 ecu so I leaned toward the ECU flash as it appears to be a more flexible solution if you have the time to deal with it.

But my concern is: Would I be able to flash this ECU with a compatible ROM and tune the car or its not gonna be that simple?

Just FYI the car belongs to the owner of a Mitsu dealership so I might have access to the OEM flashing tool if that helps. But I have to double check on that as it is a small town in the brazilian midwest and there is only one EVO around a possibly 3 or 4 RallyArts.

Thanks in Advance

No compatible ROM needed - it comes with the car.

All you have to do is tune it. I'd recommend some experience before diving right into the 600hp pond, but I'm not sure how you are going to get that with only 1 evo thats already under the knife.

Just remember, 4B11s are expensive!

I can tune... this is not the issue.. I come from the Honda scene and I have tuned several high Hp cars...

The only difference will be going from speed density maps to VE but tha is fine

What I didnt have a clue is how to set up the electronics in order to extract the map correctly and then flash it back as Im more used to the Hondata and Neptune systems as well as standalones that support live tuning

But thanks a lot, i was kinda worried if this would work or not since Cobb guys said their system would not work on my car...

BTW, are the fuel trims fullly tunable on this thing or there is a limited amkunt of fuel I can pull/add (big injectors thats why I question this)

One caveat to the ability to tune - you would have to know the ROM ID to know if it is well defined, but I'm guessing it is likely that it is.

There really is no set-up per say. Buy tactrix cable, install ecuflash, read map, [download XML if necessary], tune.

You sound confident, so I guess I don't need to tell you that there are quite a few small tricks and tweaks that help significantly in tuning an Evo that are probably much different than hondata. You can't change the target AFR from 14.7 for the closed loop areas, but injectors are scalable and latencies can be changed within a certain range. People make serious power on these cars on the stock ECU and regularly use 2000cc injectors - it doesn't sound like you should have any problems. Maybe it would be best for you to just install ecuflash and check out a few ROMs to see what you can do. Better yet, if you ordered a tactrix cable you could download the ROM right from the car you plan to tune!

Make sure you post a dyno when you are done if you can!

Hi fostytou

thanks for the inputs!

Well... what I was woried about is wether the system would work on this car as this is a SADM ECU but I have talked to a guy that managed to get this working properly on a similar car so now it's time to install the program, extract the ROM and take the time to get used to the software prior to start tuning the car.

I might practice on the guy's stock RA first so I can get familiar with the software.

and yes, I'm confident about the tune itself but any added input will be highly apreciated as any particular system have it's own particularities and it takes time to get familiar with.

I will make sure to post virtual dyno results when I'm done with this as the closest 4wd dyno is probably 1000 miles away.. lol

thanks again

Map switching, disabling or reconfiguring the boost limit, reducing the minimum injector latency, disabling the 30psi ASC limit, disabling or reconfiguring the torque limit tables... that's just getting started. There are quite a few tricks but I don't know that its appropriate to list them all here. Check the stickys and start reading/searching.

Tuning a 600hp SST is jumping into the Evo deep end that's for sure.
if it was a 5MT I'd be saying sure, if you can tune anything else you can tune the Evo.
But expect to run in to some hurdles with the SST, pull your hair out, regrow it, pull it out again....

good luck sir. should be awesome when it's done!
