Misfire Stutter Issue?

I have seen others with similar problems but most fixes and solutions relate back to the issues with the 03 and 04 Evo's, which have a known problem throwing with the P0300 code. I have an 05 on Speed Density and V7 Tephra. In Ecuflash under rom info My internal ID is 94171715 and Inherits: 94170715.

I had the car tuned at AMS in Summer of 2011. The car made good power and I have no complaints whatsoever with the car when driving aggressively.

I have had this problem since day one after getting tuned. When driving the car, regardless of which gear I am in when maintaining a constant speed or rpm the car will sputter/cut out or misfire repeatedly. The problem goes away completely when I accelerate just under boost or decelerate, which makes it very annoying when cruising. It will also happen if I accelerate very slowly under almost no load "less than 10-15% throttle". I don't think its a problem with my setup because the problem never occurred until getting the car tuned on speed density and Tephra v7. In the map itself theres 3 options labeled stutter fix 1, 2 and 3. All of which I have tried with no success.

Any help is much appreciated

Are you by any chance running high Z injectors like FIC 2150's or the like? You may need to lower your IPW minimum limit and enable that function in the rom.

What is your minimum IPW and is it enabled?

Minimum IPW SHLL # 1 and 2 are both set to 4908 # 3 is set to 4900. Minimum IPW SHLLO is 0.040 ms. I'm assuming its enabled. These Speed density maps look like hieroglyphics to me.

Gotta be more people on here with similar problems on speed density? A tuners advice would be greatly appreciated. I've changed my setup recently and will be getting retuned by Kevin at Evo Dynamics in a couple weeks. I would like to find this problem before I go.

It's not. 1, 2, and 3 need to be 0009.

Well I just had the car tuned. I will make changes tonight and try out your suggestion. So just change the values to what you recommended? I wouldn't think AMS would not enable something that was suppose to be a default setting. I will try and get a video of exactly what it's doing if this doesn't solve it. Thanks

I *don't know why they didn't take that avenue but they may have been doing high load pulls and not simulating in and around driving. Just like how you descibed how the issue started. You should have gone back that instant man--I'm sure the tuner would have helped you out.

Just enable it, drive around the block and try to re-create the issue. After it is enabled, your cruise and idle areas may have to be refined in the VE table and/or the injector latency/low hz maf comp/scaling areas/etc. Basically things that were (or were not) done to combat this issue need to be undone. The min ipw value in the rom is set quite low (0.040) so just keep that in mind as you may have to bring it up in SMALL increments. There is a thread on this.

To be honest, after the tune Chris and I drove it around the area. While I was driving it I told him the driveability sucked. He told me it was an issue with the rom id I think and that there are fixes online. Something about a jitter fix? Either way it may be pointless for me to mess with it being that I'm getting it retuned in a couple weeks.

Not the answer I would accept. To each his own. KevinD should square you away. Good luck.

EDIT: Just chuckle and let KevinD know to enable the IPW lower limit if he doesn't do it already.
