Serious help please, makes no sense

Hi all,
I got ecuflash (latest) and downloaded the latest version of tephra v7 stock (mods but not speed density etc, the one suggested here https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...hramod-v7.html)

I used EDM/JDM/USDM 96530006 As i have a JDM evo 8.

Before i did anything i read, saved and wrote down my immob codes multiple places. Saved the stock rom etc.

Then flashed the tephramod, successful. But car wont start. No idea why. So i figure, no worries, just revert to stock until i have time to figure it out.

But when i open the stock rom in ECUflash, if the stock rom is selected it WONT LET ME access ANY ECU menu items (read/write/compare etc).

Why wont it let me access these items? Im completely confused. I even downloaded a stock rom and xml from evoscan site but EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM wtf is going on here?

Revert to an earlier version of ECUFlash. There are apparently a lot of bugs in the newest version. Go to V1.42 and try again.

yeh i downloaded 1.42 but still, only the READ button is available for me to press. all other ECU buttons are greyed out. This is crazy. It will only let me flash tephramod roms, NOT STOCK. WHY? it makes no sense!

Close ECUflash, restart computer, hook up to the car and then open ECUflash. Doing it this way has worked for me in the past if there was an issue.

try this

Happened to me with the JDM Rom. Check the flashmethod section in the xml file. Change it to mitsukernel if its written evo there.

Try read/write with evoscan to see if that works.

Well this was interesting. The evo 7 base.xml was actually ok. But it seems the roms were loading from another evo 7 base xml file. I couldnt find it so i moved all xml files except the evo7 base one from the folder, then it read the correct xml and allowed me to write to my ecu using it (with the flashmode=mitsukernel).

Very strange. You need to be very careful with the XML files in the directory otherwise crazy stuff happens

thank you very much for the help!
