unusual idle surge in open loop only.

Quick background on my car.

95 Eagle Talon running an EVO8 ECU (96530706), 2G MAF, FMIC, EVO8 injectors, and custom IC piping with a Blitz BOV.

So the other day I forced my car into open loop using Periphery bit so that I could work on straightening out my MAF sensor to bring the AFRs down to where they should be and dial in the LTFTs. I basically used the method outlined in r4p.t0x post https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ec...f-scratch.html to dial in MAF scaling and not worrying to much about MAF compensation table. While getting things straightened out i encountered an unusual idle surge. It only happens while in open loop and only while the TPS is bellow 13%. after reviewing the log i noticed that during the surge when the RPM increased the AFR map would jump up to 17 AFR +- .5 . Also when the RPM and AFR would increase the load would drop.

Any ideas or theories on what it might? Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Wasn't sure if it was anything to be worried about but it kind of confused me that the ECU would try and target an AFR that was not even on the map.

I have experienced the same problem, and was really confused when I saw logged AFRMAP 17, when I have 14.7 in my map.

DO NOT use periphery bit to force open loop. Use Open Loop Load and TPS tables set to 0s to force open loop.
