2.4 base map

Hey Guys,

I'm going to be putting together a 4g64 pretty soon. Everything else on the car is stock. Not even a drop-in filter, yet. 9.8 VIII turbo. I plan to run stock compression. It'll be in 2.4l form. 156mm rods.

Just to get up and running, am I safe to run my stock ROM? One of my first mods will be a wideband, but I want to make sure that I'm safe to drive around until then.

Thanks!

You'd need to log AFR, load/rpm curve would be different with a 2.4L
Start up with conservative timing, moderate boost level, log AFR & gradually tune fuel as you incremental increase boost until you reach your desired max boost, then start tuning timing.

Well, I've never logged or tuned before. My plan was to learn on the stock 2.0, but that fell through when I goofed up and no longer have a motor.

If I were to just run wastegate pressure, should I be safe to drive it around until I can log AF and possibly post some logs and get some help? I just want to make sure that when I get it cranked up I can put a few miles on it and break it in.

I've read through the "how to tune" thread several times and have an idea of how to start, I just don't want to screw things up and be in the same situation I'm in now.

Running minimal boost is always a good precaution in such case, but it's not enough, you should be ready to tune it once you finish modifying the engine.
2.4L would naturally suck more air, therefore AFR would be different than a stock engine.
I'd drive it off boost until getting an ecu tune.

So, you're saying I should add a wideband onto my grocery list and start doing a lot more reading?

Am I even safe to go out and do some pulls at wastegate to log, or would I need to make changes to even safely do that? If I can do a few logs, at least I can get some help here on the forum with some initial changes to make.
