does a evo 8 require a ecu flash?

Oh I'm sorry. I was in a hurry to work so i couldnt write it all out. I have a AEM stand alone on it right now. I took it to a tuner and he said i should think about changing it back to a stock evo 8 ecu so i was wondering if a flash is needed or is it a plug and play
