need help on how to start tuning evo ecu first step

Hello there
i have an evo 8 gsr 2003 with a factory map
i want to start tuning my car .

i got all the equipment i need to start tuning : 1.3u cable ,ecuflash with all its features (2byte mods rpm ,load ,air flow, mut table), evoscan 2.9,innovate LC-1 wideband.

i read a ton of threads and information about tuning (afr.lean.stoich.rich), ignition timing(advance.retard),knock , boost . wgdc, injector duty cycle ,open loop , closed loop, lean spool ......)and how to use ecuflash, evoscan and how to log my car data.

My question is
when i set my boost to the desirable value(as a first step) to get the load cells my car will hit .
is it safe to run at wot on 3rd gear with no changes in the fuel and timing map .
shouldn't i retard the ignition timing by a few degrees and richen up the afr a bit?

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Really that depends on how drastic your set up is changing from its previous state. If you're disabling lean spool the first time expect a very rich run, rich enough to mis fire/ knock.

I just do a spool up load pull.

2000 rpm to peak load-3000-3700 usually, or less if I see my cel flash.

Under these circumstances I aim for

Boost afr
5 - 13.0-13.5
10- 12.5-12.8
15- 12.0-12.5
20 11.5-11.8
25 11.2-11.5
30 " "

I take it gradually. Do one pull where you just give it enough time to spool and see where your fuel and knock are. If it's decent, do another one and go a bit further, so on and so forth.

thank u guys for your helpful reply
so if i don't want to disable lean spool i should leave the spool load cells as they are set my boost to 20 psi( for example ) richen up my fuel map around 2 from 4000 rpm to redline at high load also retard timing by 3 degrees and then take a my first run at wot ?
