So I made the switch last night after copying over all the tables to see if there would be any side effects.
When driven with vigor all seemed fine and the alt map switching worked well. The car sure didn't like using the higher 2011+ timing advance on the 2010 ROM though, so I had to back those down closer to the 2008-2010 values for it to idle correctly.
I had to adjust the knock light trigger points as it was flashing with it set at 2+ counts at random times when my EvoScan datalogs showed zero knock with only 5 items logging. Maybe it was such a short duration of knock it didn't show up on the datalogger but it seemed strange. Once I changed the value to only flash on 3+ counts of knock I haven't seen it since.
Once I drove the car in traffic where I had to constantly hold back to minimal throttle I noticed the transmission suddenly isn't as smooth as it was before with the 2011 rom. This was most noticeable in Sport and Super Sport modes where light throttle upshifts exhibited a slight engagement delay between gears where it felt like it was slipping the clutch but also placing drag on the driveline before fully engaging. Keep in mind I had my 2011 ECU tables tweaked heavily and the car shifted like a champ but it's possible I need to alter them for the 2010 ECU.
One thing I didn't do was reset the battery, maybe that will help. I'm thinking that the transmission is possibly re-learning the way the SST trans shifts since part of it's brains got remapped?! Anyone seen anything similar to this behaviour or am I on new territory?

You probably aren't imagining things Chris.
This isn't a common issue, and maybe it is just some cars, or maybe it is just some owners that pick up on the changes more - but across a few different Tephra roms (and my own car) the shifting behaviour is slightly different when you copy across every single known table from the vanilla rom to the Tephra rom.
I spoke to him about it years ago and he had a look and couldn't see why this would be the case. I thought i was losing my **** but then a few other people both tuned by me and by others reported some small differences.
So while your car might be the 2010 rom and the 2011 SST clashing... I know from a few local cars with OCD owners that switching to and fro between roms there is a definite difference.
it is minor and not an "issue" really. And certainly not anything i would complain about and want Tephra to sink hours into trying to fix. but it's there, and i have no idea how or why. Just slightly jerkier and with a slight delay as you described.
Weird, huh?

I have a GSR but I see more knock counts than before nothing extreme (3 and 4 counts and very often 1 and 2 counts), it seems pretty regular but not every single pull does it. I've played with timing with no success and its across the entire power band off and on. I redid my entire timing map and it hasn't gone away with considerably less timing. Beginning to think its just false knock.
Also the car is down on power. According to VDR 355hp was before and now 330hp, torque the same differences. Have you run any VDR graphs before and after to see power output? I plan to flash my original ROM back and do back to back since my 2011 ROM pulls are a couple months old now. I feel a power difference though so something is definitely up.

Good info guys, it's definitely a subtle engagement difference as far as I can tell and power isn't effected although I'll now have to go into my 3rd gear pull archives to see if VD picks up on any major differences.
I may be able to play with some of the settings to get the hesitation of engaging the gears during light throttle to clean up a bit, the trick is which ones to start with.
Worst case I'll just flash back to 2011 or beg for the official 2011 Tephra v1 rom. Having the alt map and knock flashing feature is extremely helpful when on a road course, and will gladly pay once I know I will use it long term and work through the quirks.

Well with the 20g compressor side upgrade I have it hitting been hitting 390 whp in VD at 27-28 psi. It does taper from 27 psi at 6000 down to 23 psi at 7000 on the top end but still pulls much stronger than the stock turbo up there right to 8000 if I feel the need. I really doubt I'm losing any performance from switching to the 2010 ECU although even after a battery reset that slight delayed engagement thing is still there. Seems most evident in Sport mode for some reason, Normal is soft enough that it masks it and Super Sport is so stiff that it forces it to engage earlier.
I also "tested" a launch from a traffic light last night at 2 am where there was zero traffic... I think I left a 4 patch through the intersection and my trip to the drag strip tonight should yield some good results! Definitely any concerns that the turbo would bog the launch are erased.
I'll have to turn the boost down to 25-26 psi for any kind of extended road course driving but it will be fun to explore the limits of this combo.

Can't say I have noticed a difference in how the cars run or drive when I swap a full basemap onto them. Doesnt seem any different but I havent dropped a stock map from any year to another so I havent full tested that mod I guess.
Have you ever looked at the timing in logs while idling with a 2011+ ROM? The map says 20 something at idle but it still idles at 10 like 2008 and 2010 cars. I wonder what the point of the extra timing in the map is for if it's not even used? I wonder if there's other spots in the map like that where logged doesn't match the map values.
