trying to use a serial cable with evoscan

So i have made a basic OBD2 cable (from a vhf radio programming cabel).

and connected pin 7 (tx/rx) and 4 (ground)

but in evoscan i am unable to select comport 2.
using 2.5v im guessing i will have to go buy a openport cable that does the same thing via a built in usb adapter?.
or is there a way to get evoscan working with a OBD2 serial(comport) cable?
thanks in advance for any help in this matter.
P.S
my car is a 1998 V6 stw galant with mental issues.

EvoScan actually checks for a serial number within the cable, so your issue is a software one most likely, not hardware. Check the EvoScan website for more details - sorry I don't have any more :/
