AFR idle with 280 cams
AFR idle with 280 cams
Hi. just installed gsc s3, after a drive, when its idling, AFR is most of the timeon 14.5-15.2, but sometimes it rocks from 11.5-19.0, and knocksum is allways 0.
ive raised the idle, made it a little richer, and advanced timing a little bit, nothing seems to work here
any suggestions what to adjust in ecuflash ?
im looking for steady AFR and the rumble sound

As for me, my car idles in closed loop at 1K, shooting for 14.7, but swinging sometimes maximum from 14.5 to 15.5. But I have less agressive cams (272).

On e85, alcohol, methanol, racing fuels like c16, q16 etc. you can go add so much timing without any signs of knock that you will go past mbt - stress the engine and start loosing power.
You may go that way on a limited octane fuel such as pump gas up to ron98 (93octane).

what afr do you recommend?
12.5-12 during spool up,11.7-11.5 during peak boost and taper off at 11-10.9:1 at cutoff ?
I usually hold a relatively stable 11.8-11.3 after peak torque, depending on setup and do not taper it much if temperatures allow. 12.8-12 during spool and part-throttle mid-boost (~8-17psi) tapering with rpm, 14.7-13 at lower boost (~0-8 psi) tapering with rpm about 0.5-0.8 point, 15.5 during cruise (2-4krpm up to 0psi) .
More carefull choice of AFR depends on your setup, boost, application and generally what does your engine like best )
here it is at idle, afr 15,5-17, timing 7 and 900rpm
