[QUOTE=tsitalon1;11199736]Hey guys,

I'm making good progress from when I bought this car.

Before my mileage was 15/21, now it's 21/27.7. not bad for 400whp

I'm using open loop cruising and here are my AFR and Timing tables:

Thats impressive mileage. Do you think the engine is really tolerating all that timing at 2600-3000? Depending on knock settings/filters it might not set off the check engine light (V7) I'd imagine a lean afr and high timing would be hard to pull off with an EVO engine at low speeds. Now if you drive it carefully with very low throttle at low speeds it might be ok.

16.2 couldn't hurt, but gains are so minuscule and emissions for nox I think spike right there. I had misfiring at 16.7ish (gauge ).

I'd like to increase my mileage on my vipec but I'm stuck. Lol closed loop lambda isn't tolerating light cruise loads well at all

I am running as much timing as you are also and don't see any increased knock. I was running 16.7afr but have come down to 16.2. Mivec commanded to 15* in cruise regions. Last tank avg was 28mpg mostly on hwy but had a few hard pulls in there.

My scangauge has read 30+ mpg while cruising on the hwy but that is an average over that small time period/trip. I have not gotten close to 30mpg on an actual tank average. My AFR map is on another PC. I'll try to remember to screenshot it next time I'm in there. I redid my entire MIVEC map. Most of the map is nothing new. Did some experimenting with the scangauge and 15* seems best on my setup for cruising fuel.

so tuning: AFR, timing, and mivec is how you guys are getting that good mpg?

That's an important part of it. Obviously driving style plays a big part as does general vehicle maintenance. Other big factors are terrain, you won't be getting good gas mileage on this car if you have to drive up hills everyday. Lastly, aero is something a lot of people forget about when thinking mpg.
