Wrong ECU
Wrong ECU
I needed a ecu for my evo 7. The person I bought it of, gave me a evo 8 ecu saying it's a 7 ecu. Just plugged it in without noticing the numbers on top. It wont start. fuel pump wont activate even with evoscan. Got the car running. Aircon pump stays on and engine manegment light for front o2 sensor heater. Do I give it back or is there a way of fixing this through ecuflash. I plan is to run Speed Density.
Switch the aircon wire with the fuel pump wire (8 and 22). Then reflash with the rom you wish to use. You shouldn't be getting a code for front 02 heater but I would expect some other codes, such as rear o2. You can get rid of all the codes by manipulating the periphery bits.
But I don't understand. The pinouts look exactly the same on on both. If my o2 heater don't work. Wouldnt that be just masking the problem. What abouy running closed loop with the problem
The 7 pinout floating around the net from Lancer Register is wrong with regards to those 2 wires (ac and fuel pump), at least for every 7 I have worked on.
Have you checked that your heater is working? The heater pinouts are the same for both ecus. You can disable the heater code as a last resort. This disable long term fuel trims but short term trims still work. If your injectors are dialled in well the lack of long term trims is not really a big deal.

Using TephraMOD-90552701-v7 rom. Same one I was using on my 7 ecu. Only thing I changed on the rom, full close loop and turned the front o2 heater off.
If I run on closed loop and the o2 heater off it goes full rich cruising around sometimes. full throttle is good.
Is there a better rom for the evo 8 ecu?
