2005 USDM Evo 8 ROM ID?

So im just getting my bearings with tuning... to start off, should I use ROM ID 96940011? or ROM ID 96530006?

Only reason I ask is because I read somewhere that ROM ID 96940011 is more "restrictive"? -and so people go with 96530006?

Can anyone confirm?

also how do I read my current ROM? because when I hook up my reflash adaptor and Tactrix cable/adaptor and open ecuflash, I dont have the "read" option ...

or 94170015 base rom, which is well supported with TephraMod versions and documentation.

Do you have the ignition turned to the 'ON' position?

94170015? for a 2005 USDM Evo 8? I dont remember seeing that available ...

and yes the ignition is "on" lol

also- why do I have to have a rom opened up in ECU flash in order to see the "read" option??
