Question Grimmspeed 3 Port Boost Control Solenoid

Ive just installed a Grimmspeed 3 port BCS in my Evo 8 MR JDM

Are there any newbie guides how to do a basic set up with ECU Flash?

I obviously wrongly thought this was a direct replacement for oem (ie just plug and play and would work with original mapping). The actuator isn't actuated at all as it is, so just hit boost cut all the time. Plumbed my oem BCS back in for now.

Scroll down to “controlling boost with the ecu” section

Thanks, ive had a good read of that. A few things I dont understand...

On my 'Baseline Wastegate Duty Cycle', they're all set to 0.0 ? Ive read a few people advise you to do that... Why?

What do the 'Boost Desired Engine Load' % values mean?

On the Grimmspeed installation guide, it recommends you -30% over oem. What values are they talking about?

If someone could just give a quick easy to understand guide to what my ECU is reading with my values id be grateful

Boost desired engine load refers to the target load the ecu is trying to hit. Load and boost are related. Higher load = higher boost. The ecu uses this as boost control by calculating the error between desired load and actual load. It will increase or decrease the wastegate duty cycle by a percentage defined in the turbo boost error correction table.

Grimspeed is refering to reducing your wastegate duty cycle by 30%. I would personally start lower and work my way up to my desired level.

Check this out to get a better idea.

@v.tsipurynda

Not sure what adjustments there would be to the boost solenoid, but i would think you need to connect via a ECU cable & access using a laptop.

This issue of boost fluctuation could just be a boost leak?

Is the vehicle running in that video? Those gauges seem to be acting up.
