Hello - first time tuner

Hi,

I apologise if this is a commonly answered question, I did try the search function and didn't have much luck.
I bought an evo 7 that has a 21psi Turbosmart activator fitted as well as a grimspeed 3 port boost controller. I was told it was running wastegate boost 21psi, but had no boost guage. Fitted a boost gauge and realised it's running 1.8 bar. Pulled the airbox out and found the grimspeed ebc I wasn't aware was on the car.
I have a second motor that I am building and I just want this motor to last as long as it can. So I want to turn the boost down as low as it can go.
Wasted 10 minutes trying to find the manual valve to turn down the boost on the grimspeed before googled it and realised it has to be done through the ecu haha.
Went and purchsed a tactrix openport 2.0 and found a pretty informative youtube video on how to tune electronic boost solendoid from ECUflash. I've attached a screen shot showing the tables it tells me I need to change to lower the boost. But in my copy of ECU flash I don't have the options I've circled in red.
How do I add these tables so I can lower my boost?
Or am I better off just ditching the EBC for now and running a straight hose from compressor to wastegate?

You need to post your rom and xml to see what you have. What rom ID, who's xml definition are you using etc. If you just want to run waste gate pressure then just take off the hoses, easy. If you want to go naturally aspirated, take off the actuator arm.

well if you just pull off the hoses it will overspin and bad things could happen. If you want to run wastegate pressure, then you need to connect the wastegate directly to a boost source like the compressor housing like op suggested.

Isn't the purpose of a manual boost controller to bleed positive pressure air off so it runs less pressure to the waste gate? Wouldn't not having positive air to the waste gate not allow it to open? Bypassing the boost controller and going straight from the outlet to the waste gate will send all the pressure straight to the waste gate and not allow it to open. Also, having the actuator arm off of the turbo will allow the flap to open and the exhaust gas bypass the exhaust wheel causing the impeller to not spin, not over spinning. It would create zero boost and act like it's naturally aspirated.

Its a spring that keeps the wastegate closed. You send pressure to the wastegate to overcome the spring pressure which opens the wastegate. If you don't send pressure to the wastegate it never opens, causing the turbo to overspin.

The wastegate spring needs to see pressure to open. If you remove the hose, it'll never see pressure and never open and never limit boost.

It's been 10+ years since I tuned a turbo car, I always just had manual bleed valves on the turbo line. As soon as I read I was going to have to tune the boost in ECUflash I knew I was in trouble.
Since all I'm trying to do is just run base wastegate pressure, I'm just going to disable the EBC for now and I'll put it back on when I have more time to learn how to tune it.
After I've run hose straight from compressor to wastegate, do I need to do anything with the EBC? Do I unplug it or does the ecu need to see something plugged in there?

Im pretty sure it will throw a code if you unplug it. Just leave it hooked up but maybe cap off the ports so junk doesn't creep inside of it.
