help..only getting 12-13psi of boost

yesterday i made my evo 8 warm up hen took it for a drive when i instantly noticed that the boost pressure wasnt right...instead of 26 psi am only getting 12-13 which i assume is the wastegate boost

so far i check all the vacuum lines and charge pipe which none seem to be leaking

i search and heard that the car has a boost pill...could this be bad?

any ideas?

Check the lines running to and from your boost controller. If they are fine then its probably your boost controller thats malfunctioning.

In order to troubleshoot the issue, you should disconnect the vacuum line going from the turbo's wastegate to the boost control solenoid, do a 3rd gear pull, but watch what the boost gauge does.

While this line is disconnected you are running infinite boost. If the boost goes over 26 PSI, let off, then you know its the boost control solenoid that should be replaced.

May be related with the boost controller

I could be way off but might as well throw it out there. I had a very similar issue when my bov was leaking.

Check for exhaust leaks before the turbo like a cracked manifold blown gasket between head and manifold or manifold to turbo. Had the same problem and searched for about a month before I found my problem

Sounds like wastegate boost. Do you have an aftermarket solenoid? What mods do you have?

Update** I took the vacuum line off the wastegate and took it for a test ride.. 3rd gear pull got me up to 20psi but I let off as soon as i saw that I'm getting more boost...

The boost sensor has delphi marked on it.. Is that oem or aftermarket .. And does this mean I need to replace it?

Hooray! Looks like we found the issue.

I'm not sure who manufactures the stock one (from your description it sounds like its the stock one). You have a few options, buy a new stock one, an aftermarket solenoid one like the Grimmspeed (requires a tune), or a manual boost controller.

The easiest one, is a manual boost controller, like the Hallman. Works great

If 26PSI was his norm before this started, that wouldn't have been the stock solenoid, would it?

Or I guess maybe different pill than stock in the line with the stock solenoid?
