Guys, please read other posts and stay on top of this forum if you want to use this software, most of your questions are answered at least once..

But its likely because you have older XML definitions and new files.. you need to update or replace the XML Defs, the EVO bootloader module has been renamed to something more mitsubishi generic and will throw errors on your older XML definitions.

I apologise its just the car wont start right now and im a little nervous. Al sent me the file and i wrote it because for some reason it would let me write that one map but wouldnt let me adjust my current map....now it will not start with the map al provided. When i try to re-write my old map imstill getting Flashing tools do not recognize flash method 'evo'. Any way you can lead me through?

Yeah, uninstall the old software, delete the definition files, and reinstall the software with the new defs..

Also, when you get a chance, check your Immobilizer code in Al's new map and make sure its the same as your old map..

There's another post in this forum on what you need to do exactly to your XML definition file for it to work right.. But basically you change some text in the XML definition from "evo" to "mitsukernel".. Do a search for mitsukernel in this forum and you should be able to find the thread.

Any flashmethods that used to be "evo" should now be "mitsukernel"... If you have your rommetadata somewhere other than the install directory, you will need to update all of your files (or just use the new ones) or you won't be able to flash. Open Windows Explorer, browse to the directory "c:\Program Files\OpenECU\EcuFlash\RomMetadata\Mitsubishi\Evo" , open the .XML files in there with your favorate text editor (NotePad should be ok), look at line #6 which contains the following "<flashmethod>evo</flashmethod>" and replace the "evo" with "mitsukernel", save & close the file and continue modifying other files if neccessary. Done.

check the immobilizer code. the one that al sent me had the wrong code. he sent me a 0B7E while it was a 087E originaly. i am sure he simply overlooked it.

Thats an easy one to overlook too, especially considering laptop screens are smaller and can sometimes be hard to read.. 0B7E definitely can be mistaken for 087E considering the 8 and B can be easily confused when your tired..
