Over boosting when BDEL and BCLO set up...

Hi guys,

I had a go at attempting to set up BDEL and BCLO but, it's over boosting like a beehatch.

Before adding values to the BCLO table, the car was boosting perfectly to 1.8 bar as set with the B/MWGD. See 15.18.51 log.
I then made the amendments to BDEL, BCLO and TBEC shown in the .jpg below, to reflect logged load and it now overboosts to around 1.9 bar. See 15.51.36 log.

I then dropped the BCLO back to 105 and it still over boosted and I saw as much as 2 bar (I lifted straight away) now. See 15.59.11 log.

Max upward correction has 10 in the bottom 2 cells for reference.

So, any advice on what I'm doing wrong?

Cheers,

Paul

Why should I do that if it hits target boost (in 3rd gear) without the ecu correction enabled?

What is your correction interval set at? Try lowering that along with the corrections themselves. Smaller, more frequent correction should help it stay on target better.

This, corrections are too big.

Also, allowing upward WGDC correction will lead to overboost during spoolup. Disabling it should correct the issue.

Thanks guys.

Correction interval was at factory level of 10. After reading mrfreds thread I shall lower it to 2.

Raptord: what would you suggest for correction values?

Also re Max/ BCLO upward correction, I'm concerned that zeroing it will mean I don't get upward correction in 1st and 2nd gear. Is that a valid concern?

Paul

No upward correction means that your WGDC won't be adjusted beyond BWGDC. The ECU can still increase WGDC back up to BWGDC if it had previously lowered it though. (For example, correction can't be +1, but if it was -2 and the boost was too low the ECU can still increase it to -1).

As far as correction, keep +/- 2.5 at 0. That's not enough difference from your target load to start correcting. Beyond that, the peaks I would use are +2 for the lowest load and -3 for the highest load. Make a smooth interpolation to those values. So something like:

+2
+1.5
+1.5
+1
+1
+.5
+.5
0
0
0
-.5
-1
-1
-1.5
[...]

Great thanks again.

Just to make sure I understand completely. If I zero out the Max Upward Correction table and input the numbers you suggest into my BCLO table, the ecu can never apply a greater duty % than I set in M/BWGDC but, if it lowers the M/BWGDC now, it can increase it again by +2% (every interval) if load is -20?

Yes*. It can't outright increase it, but it can still "undo" any downward corrections with equivalent upward corrections, if that makes sense.

Another way of saying it is that it won't increase boost, but it can lower it less than it was previously.

*: Technically it can't go higher than BWGDC + any compensations already applied, such as IAT compensation.
