Are we talking about the Nurburgring here. If so, I'd like your opinion on something. I was having a heated discussion with some particularly patriotic Americans about whether either the new corvette, or the Z06 variant could lap the 'ring quicker than a Porsche 911 GT3. I suggested that the 'vettes couldn't even manage sub 8min. They did not agree. Any thoughts?

Jaffa, I think you are very right. I'd be VERY surprised if the Vette would be able to get close to a GT3 given the drivers are at the same level.

I also think it's unlikely that the drivers will be at the same level. Dukes of Hazard vs J. Stuck and W. Rohl (if that's spelt right).

uh, europe sucks! bastards...

anyway, comparing a vette to a 911 GT3 is insane. the GT3 costs about 3 times as much as a stinking vette.

Well, considering a GT3 was lapping Dodge Viper race cars at some Viper club event (article was in Automobile, or European Car--can't remember), I think the Corvetter ZO6 could qualify as nothing more than a pace car. That's the problem with a lot of Detroit guys mentality. They only think about things in a straight line. Does your friend even know what that course looks like? How narrow the track is in some sections, and how many blind turns there are? People kill themselves on that course, it's so difficult.

Yeah, it could well be the most demanding course in the world. They even stopped F1 on it, although they still race F1 on a different circuit there. Have a look at a guy trying to kill himself in a RUF CTR.....

That last remark was ridiculously below the belt. Either you didn't think about what you were saying or you shouldn't be moderating.
