Thumbs up Great time with N.Ring at the Ring

What's wrong with this board, first I can't post my pics and now after writing a novel about my Ring adventure it disappears
Here we go again:

I arrived at the Dorint Hotel tuesday afternoon. The weather was brilliant, perfect for driving (dry, about 15-20 deg.). My room was at the start/finish straight of the GP course so I had an excellent view when the Porsche training began. After watching all those GT2s, GT3s, old and new Turbos blasting by I was lusting to go to the real track, the Nordschleife. There I met my mate N.Ring, the Porsche killer! After stripping myself into the harnesses I took the first lap very easy as it was 9months ago when I drove there the last time. After that N.Ring gave me a passenger ride. After the first lap I almost needed new trousers but on the second lap the adrenalin took over and I could actually enjoy it and listen to him when he explained the racing line to me (which I couldn't store in my poor brain as the track has 70 corners!) Then we went out again in my car. After overtaking a GT3 and getting carried away I missed a corner and we had an off. Luckily it was at the slowest section (Adenauer Forst) and we and my EVO escaped unhurt. In the meantime the Porker could go past and I first had to take the next two corners easily as the tyres were full of gravel. Then I drove some other laps which were fantastic, meaning jumping at 160km/h at the Pflanzgarten, feeling your stomach compressed in the Fuchsröhre, getting shaken through the Karusell. I could go on as the track has so many special places. After lunch with N.Ring I spent the whole evening with Timspeed from the MLR and an Audi engineer who was testing a prototype at the bar. Next morning the Audi guys even rebalanced my wheels and I wanted to go out again. But boy was it crowded, the whole parking slot was full of cars and bikes. So I decided to stay off the track and instead looking at some nice machinery. Porsches are so common there, but a new SL55AMG had just scratched the whole right side on the armco! Didn't want to know about the bill! Also several rebuilt old DTM Mercedes from Rosier where there (very impressive), some very mean sounding race BMW Coupes, Lambo Diablo, Ferraris of all sort of kind and even two EVO VII. Unfortunately also tons of bikers. In the afternoon N.Ring arrived again and convinced me to go out again. In the meantime my cousin had arrived aswell so I took him out with me for two laps. N.Ring was behind me to check my lines and as expected he made a decisive move on the inside at the Adenauer Forst and overtook me with ease. I drove on with my own speed and had to pass loads people which can be pretty scary at speeds around 200.
What can I say, I really enjoyed myself, two superb days of driving, meeting my mate, chatting to various people. I covered about 1'300km in four days, the car never missed a beat and the Movits did me proud. I've done all this with a slipped disc but it was worth it.

Thanks again for N.Ring for spending his precious time with me, Timspeed for paying the beers and Carsten for organizing the wheel rebalancing

Cheers

Mike

PS: I hope next time I meet Michael, Mr. Sideways and Jan too!
PSS: Need a new windscreen, as it's slightly cracked after a stone on the German Autobahn hit it very hard, luckily it's covered by the insurance!

Hi guys

thanks for the credits. Isn't it great to share our experiences I even met a guy from Canada who took some pics of my car. He was over the moon when seeing a real EVO so I can understand that the waiting for the VII is pissing you off big time!

Mike

just seen your message. I'll try to send you some pics this weekend. Thanks for your kind offer

See ya

Mike

Just read this thread, haven't had time yet.... tell me next time you go, but well in advance (1-2 months). An off at Adenauer Forst... tstststs, what a mistake, you should know better. Shouldn't be saying this really as I'm going again tomorrow and on Sunday.... it can happen to anyone. You must've hit the curbs quite straight as if you hit them the wrong way they can rip your wheel off with them being so high.... anyway, next time, Scoobymike, next time....

I hope to drive on the Ring again this year. It was great again despite the off. When I realized I couldn't make the left hander I braked as hard as I could, put the car straight and jumped frontally over the curbs. Luckily my car wasn't lowered otherwise the IC could have been ripped off aswell. That's the thing with the Ring it can bite and you get carried away after a good lap.

Hope I'll get my KW suspension soon. Before everybody tells me how bad dual-tubes are then please take over my tax bill and we can discuss about monotubes!

BTW altough having a WRC cat my Hyper Muffler is now so loud it's pissing me off. I think I burnt out all the gubbins. After two laps on the Ring I almost had an headache although wearing a helmet!

Claudius

I know it's quiet far and in my case it's already almost a 500km journey. If you take the plane someone could pick you up at Cologne. If you ever decide to bring your car with you we could meet at Basle and drive up there together.

Thanks for the offer regarding my back. I need to go to a special gym to keep the muscle strong then it's ok but also mental stress can result in back pain. At the mo it's ok. The problem with surgery is that you don't have a guaranty you back will be ok afterwards.

Otaking

I've got some strange problems with my mail recently and can't send nor get e-mails Will try it again soon when I had a word with the provider

Speak to you later, have to bleed my Movits

Cheers

Frankfurt or Cologne is the closest I guess. Munich is the wrong direction. The other idea is to fly to Stuttgart and I could pick you up there when driving to the Ring. From Stuttgart it's about 2 1/2 hours to the Ring. This would need some planning in advance but I would be up for it

You're completely right about the back surgery, my mum still has back pain despite undergoing surgery.

Just bled my brakes and now they feel like new, it's amazing what difference fresh brake fluid makes. Had some air in both front callipers and last time driving downhill soft pedal. I think this was from Anneau du Rhin where I killed my rears.

Next Saturday I'll be at Hockenheim for the Tuner GP and Drift Challenge. Don't know if Kobayashi will be there again with the Jun Monster but anyway it'll be loads of fun. I know someone from Sport Auto so I can probably enjoy myself in the VIP area. Maybe Michael is up for it?

BTW what kind of brake system do the Japanese tuner use on their monster EVOs? The Jun EVO last year had some different callipers aswell.

Cheers

Hi Mike, if you go to the Ring next time let me know. Perhaps we can meet there again...not only on the parking...

I will be in Hockenheim also Thursday for "Turistenfahrt"... ...and Sunday too...

When you have such good conections to sport-auto, why don´t you go to there track-days? Next is 1st and 2nd on the Ring. It was already over-booked, but I also have connections there

I also signed in for 3rd of August Boxberg, drift-training. And Soelden on the glacier in Dezember...

C U in der Sachskurve.

Hi Felix

next time when going up to the Ring we'll go together. As my grandma lives so close to your place we could drive together up there.

Last year I attented the Perfection Training on the Ring with Sport Auto. This year I'm not sure as I would prefer to do more flying laps with N.Ring to learn the circuit. I also wanted to attend last year's drift training but had to cancel it as my slip discs had just been discovered and due to pain I wasn't able to drive cars at all!

What about the Scuderia Hanseat trainings. Can you recommend them? I would love to drive in Hockenheim although currently you can only drive on the short circuit.

We definitely meet in Hockenheim. I'll contact you next week to arrange something!

Cheers

in MC Schumi won't need it anyway as he'll lap almost the whole field there.

Regarding the Ring. The first thing is always to check when the track is open and then we could agree on a date. Hope I can get those days off then!

Cheers
