Moving to Germany!
Hey fellas, I may not be coming until January now. Had to defer for 90 days!! This gives me more time to get the Bullet right!! Looking forward to gettin up with you guys. Oh, I heard that they are a little easy with the inspections for military as long as your car is still registered in the states, any input on this??
Hey for the exhaust what I do is put my cat on and also drive into inspection with my rev limiter set to 2500. They have to rev to half of our redline and on my new guages it's 10,000 and at 5k it's at 104db.
I PCSed here at the beginning of 2008.... I passed inspection in Mannheim with no cat on, running the test pipe. I have to say I was a bit nervous when they did the test, but it passed somehow.
Now my only concern is when I finally head back to the states... lol. My Cat was accidently left at a friends shop back in TN, oh so long ago. Haha. Guess I'll have to buy a used one or something.

I passed without a cat here 2 weeks ago (I'm at Spang but got it inspected at Baumholder). I don't think they care or are looking for the cat while under it. They are just looking for fluid leaks, exhaust leaks, rust and worn-out steering and suspension components.
It really depends on who is inspecting your car. Soem days the guys are cool and dont care what you have and other days you'll get guys who will fail a brand new car.
For example, my Evo was so low, it barely made it on the ramp. I didnt remove any modifications except my methanol and my exhaust was well above their maximum decibel level and the inspector could care less. He did a once around, tested the e-brake and steering, checked for leaks and that was it....I didnt even have a front plate.
The next day, I took my wife's brand new, bone stock Armada to get inspected...different guy. He failed it because the e-brake didnt meet his specifications.
Like the above guy said, if you cant pass at Spang, go to Baumholder. They'll pass anything.

I registered my car in Schweinfurt a couple times and those guys are super cool. One of them actually owned an Evo himself. They are used to seeing sports cars all the time. My friend had an Evo 8 with an exhaust so loud it would wake the dead and a BoV that sounded like a shotgun blast pushing 800+ as a daily driver... he only failed inspection because of minor damage to his brake line...
...then, I moved to Grafenwoehr... HUGE difference! Everyone's Evos failed there and people were actually taking the two hour trip to Schweinfurt just to get their cars registered.
In all, it all depends on the people doing the inspection. All of them are German. Some are race car enthusiasts. Others, are HATERS!!!
Good luck (hope this helped)!!!
BTW There are many places on the Autobahn to let her rip... dont be afraid to break your speedometer!!! Just learn how to recognize all the camera locations and you'll be fine! I drove 180 whenever I could... no tickets!!!

Oh yeah... I almost forgot, the registration from the states DID help me get registered in Graf. I dont know if I was a special case, but keep it handy, anyway.
