508whp FP Red E85

Every one seems to be making great # with the FP Reds lately so I thought I would add to the FP love

The car is owned by one of my good customers, Jim, and it is a IX MR that we have done all the work to. He Drags and road races the car every chance he gets.

Mods

ETS FMIC
-ETS lower pipe (older version)
-Injen intake and upper pipe modded by us for the Magnus
-English Racing built motor Eagle/JE drop ins
-Cosworth M3's with FP beehive springs and stock retainers
-1200cc injectors
-255hp intank and 255hp inline boost activated
-RC1200's
-Magnus cast intake
-MIL.SPEC 65mm TB
-FP Red turbo
-HKS test pipe back
-DC sport catless DP
-SS O2 housing
-Stock ECU and MAF tuned by us
-ETS mini bat

We were doing some testing today on the car to see how well the Magnus Cast intake would do. On our last trip to the dyno the car left at a solid 475-480whp, and we did nothing but bolt the Magnus Cast intake on and were making a solid 496-500whp.

After the test was done I thought I would try and squeeze some more hp out the car which proved to be quite tapped. 1st I raised the boost but the car really did not like the big spike. Not sure how high since the tru-boost maxes out at 29.5psi. (need to get a 5 bar sensor for it) I was able to get a few deg more timing in above 6k but no real power gains there either. We ended up dropping the back section of the HKS exhaust since the muffler is not a true 3in at all and we picked up a solid 8-9hp. I know the car has 530whp in it with some small changes.

-3in muffler
-Tighten the WG to we can hold more boost out the top
-Newer ETS Lower pipe
-Try a few different intake pipes
-Playing with the tune more

Thanks guys.

Just kinda hit me that the Stock MR BOV could be leaking. Will have to try a modded BOV or a different one next time around.

Very nice. My biggest question still remains which turbo would give me the most spirited 440-450whp...the FP Red or BBK Full?

Well we havent had a BBK equipped car to test and havent tested it on our cars either so its really tough to say one way or the other. On a IX the Red is almost invisible as far as lag to be perfectly honest. I think that the VIII might be a little more noticable, but probably not by much.

Ultimately it comes down to what your end goal is. If you want 440-450whp on E85 or gas and thats it, the BBK might be right for you. If you really want to be able to push the car and make 500+ then the Red is more what you want.

So by Built Motor you mean the whole works..? Balance Shafts, Head Job,Valves, Head Studs etc etc.. or just Eagle Rods/ JE Pistons Dropped IN.. am asking cuz those are amazing numbers.. imagine what a Head Job would do..!!

Not felling the UICP though, he needs something that shoots to the TB without that hump..! +1 for a MR in the 500 club..

Built bottom end I guess in your definition. Rods, pistons, balance shaft delete, head studs. The UCIP is a modded Injen pipe, but you are right if it had straighter flow to the new TB location it would definitely help.

Could you go into more detail on the boost activated inline pump? Does the intank pump essentially blow through the Bosch pump until a given PSI? If that is the case, I never would have thought that would work, but I'm intrigued. I've tried to physically blow through the Bosch pump I've got and it ain't happening. Very nice numbers BTW. The power spread is awesome.

John, I appreciate the feedback and making things a bit clearer for me.
