Another re-tune on evo...not happy at all

ok guys so this was the second re-tune for my car after my ported manifold and my tial. i dynoed my car with full bolt ons, intercooler, piping,TBE, intake , MBC @ 25 psi...etc you no all the mods. Well went back because i did a ported Megan exhaust manifold, and i change my junk bov that was leaking to a tial with a turbotrix custom UICP.

MODS:
- DC sport downpipe
- HKS catback
- EPM o2 dump
- Ported turbo hotside
- FP large wastegate
- Turbtrix UICP
- Tial BOV
- BYC front mount intercooler
- AGP LICP
- Injen intake cone filter
- Ported megan exhaust manifold
- Turbo xs boost controller
- etc...etc...

well i wasnt to happy at all.

my car with the stock manifold put down 349awhp /339 trq @ 25psi

now i go back with my ported manifold and dyno it and it puts down 370 on the first pull. So i was like ok not to bad with no timing messed with and air fuel all screwed up.

well comes to see i was maxing the injectors out way to much, causing the car to go extremly lean and about 8 counts of knock past 6500 rpms.

So i lowered the boost and bam still the same problem because the manifold is producing so much more air then the stocker that my stock injectors cannot keep up.

End conclusion is the car put down 357 awhp/302 trqe!?!?! @ 20psi.

so i gained a total of 9 hp at redline , lost almost 40 foot lbs of tourqe and lost 5 lbs of boost.

and i also lost about 30 whp at 4000 rpm.

so i lost 30hp down low and gained 8 hp up top and lost 5lbs of boost to make 9 hp more haha

idk im so annoyed right now, but i guess im retarted for not relizing that i needed more fuel with more air, well whatever new injectors and cams coming next week lol

ill post graphs later to show you guys the loss of power down low and the gain up top

FYI
STICK WITH YOUR STOCK MANIFOLD UNLESS YOU DO METH OR CAMS WITH INJECTORS

I hope some ppl learned a lil from this lol

Throw some bigger injectors in there and go back for a re-tune.

Your complaing for BS. You can't change one mod and not the supporting mods. Ie. If you put a bigger turbo, you will need bigger injectors. Same goes for the manifold in this case. Maybe you should have researched better or consulted your tuner.

Bigger injectors and a better manifold the megan crack so quick it's not worth it....better off getting the t3 manifold that TURBOTRIX makes for stock turbos .....but good luck and looking to see good numbers

STFU and buy some injectors or an Aquamist kit. Alky will be your biggest bang/buck because you'll get more fuel to play with as well as be able to turn the boost up a bit more. You have a fuel pump already, right?

Also, 'all the bolt-ons' can mean a lot of things, so you might want to specify instead of being super vague.....threads like this get pretty lame w/o details......or dyno graphs....

mod list up....happy?

and if you didnt no the IX's have bigger fuel pumps then the VIII, you can get away with leaving the stock pump, but just for you i have one to be on the safe side.

you can also add meth if you dont want to go bigger injectors. Youll get the fuel you need and also make more power than you will on just pump gas. PM me if you want, I have a kit ill let go for a good price.

And also you would be better off with a buschur ported and coated stock manifold than the megan. Youll gain top end, not lose all the low and mid range and be alot happier.

Geez man, just trying to help! Yes I know the stock pump is better than a VIII, but it won't flow as much as a walbro. With that mod list, even with the walbro, I could tell you before you got on the dyno that you'll be out of injector. Alky is your best bet imho, I ran my stock injectors up to 137% IDC with a 1mm jet on my aquamist, similar mods to you and an IX turbo on my VIII running 27psi.

The SMC kit that Celica2evo has FS is pretty decent, I had one for about a year, but ultimately I upgraded to the aquamist because it was a better kit.

SO ya, alky or bigger injectors, then back to the dyno

You prolly don't want to know what I have to say about that megan manifold...

scheides im sorry i wasnt trying to be a dick, just rough weekend lol manifolds arent to easy to do haha, and idk why i thought i could squeeze more fuel out of the injectors. lol well like chin0 said live and learn, thanks for the responsses guys

and sheides dont even go to the megan, i go it for practiclly free and its almost brand new and ported lol so i figured id try it

and o ya update, manifold cracked on the dyno just noticed it now

MEGAN MANIFOLDS ARE GARBAGE!!!

im ordering the injectors with an aeromotive high flow fuel rail, then cams and the red in a few months.

thanks for the help and advice guys.

Try doing a headgasket or a clutch job if you want to see something that's actually hard. Exhaust manifold is a bit of a pita but it's the first and last step for a lot of other projects, so get used to it

You might consider an AFPR. If you're right at the very limit of what your car can do on the stockers, bumping the base pressure would let you push that edge a bit and be a little cheaper than a set of injectors. Buschur makes a piece that bolts onto the stock rail. Either way you need a re-tune though.
