I'm coming from a 2007 Supercharged Si where tuning was Extremely limitted. I'm trying to figure out what I will use for tuning on my 9 that I will be getting soon. I'm new to tuning cars and have been reading different threads, but when it comes to picking a product over another, Idk what to get.
What are the best options for tuning for the 9?
Are there any that are a waste of money for what they offer?
Any favorites?
I basically want something that will do everything I will need, but hopefully not break the wallet if necessary. I figured aem would be the best, but that's just a guess.
While I'm at it, are there any threads out there that I need to read regarding tuning in general that I may have missed while using the search function? There is just so much information out there, I know there is more out there.
A couple things I was looking into besides the aem, is the accessport, and the new evoscan.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, that being the case, is there a good way for me to have something to reflash the ecu? Would that be the best option? I don't want to always have to pay someone to tune my car all the time and I would also like to learn; meaning I would like to get a way to reflash the ecu and have someone that is good at tuning and get schooled numerous times to learn the process.
my suggestion would be to read the Evo Engine Management / Tuning Forums. specifically the ecuflash subforum. you can learn a lot about tuning and flashing your own ecu in there. all you really need is a tactrix cable
ECUFlash is where its at. Unless you want to go over 600-700 whp there is no need to ditch the factory ECU/ECM. I made 549 on a Dynojet on a stock block and MAF. That was only at 30 psi on 100 octane out of injectors with 880s. My timing was 6 to 17 degrees.

Thanks for the info guys. I didn't even see the stickies in that section yet. My bad. There's alot of good info over there. Now I have to find out what's the deal with the newer software and bugs and the cable issues. My hp goals are only around 450 ish at most. I want mine to be a realiable dd. When it's paid off, I may go nuts with it.

Seek a professional tuner such as mellon to help you map out the car.
450whp on race gas is no sweat even on a stock frame turbo. On pump you'll probably need a bigger turbo to get there. Plenty of options and opinions around I'm sure you'll figure it out. I DD my car as well and while i'd love to reach 450whp its not going to happen on 91 octane here without a meth bottle or a big turbo like a HTA35r.

You can buy the older cables just not from tactrix. Its the 1.3 cable as sold here and other places. http://www.limitless.co.nz/Cables/

I have another question. When I purchase the wideband o2 for the datalogging software, what do I have to do if I want the aem wideband gauge to display afr? How do I go about wiring that up?
An aem wideband will most likely come with a digital afr gauge. A wideband is a more precise o2 sensor which goes in the downpipe before the cat and gives a accurate and live reading.
There so much that can be done with the stock ecu and it just takes some time reading the stickies and moving on to all the other rom mods.
