The car def moves pretty good but in ur guys opinion do u think my whp numbers are a lil low for the mods and being on a dynojet dyno? I have a buddy that put down 357 to the wheels with buschur ported o2 and ported exhaust mani, no cams. This car was also tuned by Al and on ICS' dynojet...

Hks 272s (w/ dual valve springs and ti retainers)
Forge BOV
I made 356whp 378wtq with a small exhaust leak. Boost spiking to 26 and tapering to 19 I guess?

Those numbers aren't too bad. That's on the stock intake, intercooler, and high flow cat right?

I was tuned by Al way- back at Pruven and he squeezed 339/351 out mine. I had tbe no cat, 8 turbo 10.5 hotside, licp, boost controller, and hks 272 cams-23psi

Once you add an intake, ic and get rid of the cat your numbers should jump 20-30whp..

Al is a great tuner.yes he has his own way of putting things and likes the word "bro", but he personally tunes literally hundreds of different evos a year and plenty of repeat customers. its important to hear what the tuner says and not focus on how they say it, but a lot of people are babies and forget this. al will give you a safe tune, and will miss sleep to make your car the best he can and safely. i know this from experience.

I have no experience with Al, but it seems like people bash on him just for the way he speaks. To me it just seems like he is enthusiastic and passionate for what he does and I guess people don't like it. Just my opinion, I dont know.

AWESOME NUMBERS! Enjoy the car..

I been watching his videos for about a year now since I've been in Iraq. At fist I thought the guy was a joke, a bad tuner! I just went of the bad things a lot of ppl said about AL, ignoring the good. later I became interested in his videos because he was funny and it was something to look forward 2 being out here.

bboypuertoroc on these boards is a buddy of mine, whom I met when i was in Hawaii. He had a dynoflash tune and wasn't quite satisfied for some reason and that right there told me to not ever seek dynoflash service, since he demanded nothing but the best for his car.

It wasn't till after several videos, post and threads posted by him (Al) that I sensed a change in myself and him, and I was now neutral on his reputation as a tuner. Al can tune the heck out of a Evo, he has come a long way but he is there now. I can say he is a good tuner and I can trust him with my car.

Thanks also - this is exactly how I feel about my work

I take what I do very seriously and take great care in the tuning that I do and the engines that I put together

I do like to speak in a very casual manner in my tuning enviornment its mostly becuase I really love my work and usually I am very excited when I am on the dyno and working with fast cars.

First, thanks for your business. I appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you.

A lot of people get hung up on dyno numbers. I think this misses the point and I'd like to take the time to share my opinion on the subject. To me the dyno peak numbers are the LEAST important aspects of the tuning process.

With a lot of experience tuning a particular application you can get a "feel" for what tuning approaches work and what does not work and most imporantly what your window for safe knock free operation is and how much of a margin for saftey you have.

The issue of course is not what the peak dyno reading is. To me the issue is to make the most power you can while maximizing the saftey margin and assuring that the car will remain very reliable and in a stable state of tune under a wide range of operational conditions.

Also as far as the speed of the car the area under the curve and the broadness of the power band is much more imporant than the peak power so when I am tuning I look most imporantly at the SHAPE of the curve and where the power is being made.

As far as your specific car, I think the numbers you have obtained are average for the modifications and fuel used.

The most whp we have seen on a stock turbo was approx 438 whp with alcohol injection and just about every power mod you can imagine running about 10 more peak pis of boost than you have.

Typically a stage III car like yours on pump gas makes between 350 - 375 whp on our dyno - depending on the individual car.

In your case, i suspect that the high flow cat and the small exhuast leak before the turbo may have hurt your power production slightly.

Al
