522 WHP Stock IX turbo

So on my lame quest to find the most hp out of my stock turbo. I am starting to feel like some all motor Honda guy. The amount of work $$ and time to just get a few extra hp is kinda crazy.

2009 recap of my stock turbo tuning (hope its not to hard to read)

So this winter we redid the motor again but going to 11:1 comp VS. last years 10:1 comp. I felt like on my E85-E98 combo I could take advantage of more comp because of the amount of extra timing I could run that did not pick up much hp. At the moment with the amount of tuning I have done with my car and a 620whp 3065 1g on 11:1 I feel like 11:1 is kinda the limit on E98 and being able to make more HP. VS lower comp and more boost or timing. I am doing alot of this to prepare my self for the 13.5:1 methanol motor I am building.

So last Tuesday I headed up to ETS to start playing with my new combo. The only change on Tuesday from last year was my higher comp. Last year on the ETS dyno with my PS and AC hooked up I was right at 480whp and about 500with no exhaust and only running the alt. So I felt like I was up a solid 20hp due to the comp. I was right at 500whp right off the bat. I then installed the Magnus Cast intake (had a Ported one last year) The intake put me up around 510whp. I then took off my Buscher exhaust in vavor of a ETS 3.5in exhaust. I had picked up 5hp last year by pulling the cat back part of the exhaust and only running DP. Wanted the same gains but with exhaust.

So with the Magnus and exhaust I ended my tunning section with 514whp at ETS.

At ETS I was having fuel pump problems so dropping fuel pressure I was running 12.5 AFRS. So Friday I replaced my intank 255hp which fixed my problem. Brought my AFRS into the 10's. Left the car like that since I was out of tuning time and had to get ready for the dyno day at DriftOffice.

At the end of the Day Sat Jeff and I made exhibition pulls for every one with my car and Jeffs 900hp 42r 1g.

Well my 1st pull out was only 487whp due to being way rich from the new fuel pump. I ended up burning up quite a few pulls getting the AFR back up which got the power up. Once the power was back to the 500+ range I started playing with boost trying to get my goal of 520whp. I am bumed now that I did no spend more time tuning because I know I could make the graph look much better. I was having to run a 33psi spike to get the boost to hold out the top. Well I had the timing dip quite low past 30psi so my spike was showing a loss in hp but gaining in the 6k area due to the spike letting me hold a few more psi out the top.

I am hopping to get the car over 500ft lbs with more tuning. I would like to try and pull off a 10.5 this year at close to 130mph with my little extra hp.

Wow, that's incredible. It seems like every time I turn around the stock IX turbo is making more power than the last unbelievable amount. Very nice work.

I was wondering how this would turn out. Excellent work and excellent results! I never would have thought I would see that kind of power from a IX turbo.

Very impressive work. Nice info on the build. Let me know when you have a used set of high comp piston set for sale when you upgrade. I know you have to have those made and the wait is long.

In his mods list he lists his iX turbo as being ported. What makes his turbo different than what the FP Red has?
