Welp, went to the "track" and hung door to door with a 595 whp mustang and a laser with a built 2.4 twin scroll 42r on pump.

Needless to say I'm stoked. Can't wait for some rods and pistons, magnus intake, and some more boost!

Update:

Hit 8k rpms, heard a pop (similar to IC pipes popping off), then some sweet rod knocking sounds. No smoke, no drama, just noise.

I'm pretty sure I bent a rod. Its going in for a rebuild today.

I figure'd I'd post considering a lot of people who make nice power on stock blocks and then have their motors blow never post to document it. I very well knew I was playing with fire at this power level and took my chances.

Gotta pay to play. I guess I'm kinda happy the rod didn't make a sunroof for my block.

wow... that sucks man. Good luck w/ the build. I am also concerned running my stock block (so far so good/knocking on wood) and im running pumpgas only!
i think im going to build it later just for calm my nerves...

btw, did you take the compressor cover off and actually measure the inducer and exducer of the compressor wheel? A 35r is typically 61mm inducer(the part you see through in the inlet and w/ an 82~86mm exducer(the part of the compressor blades that is hidden by the cover, the bigger part) depending on trim. GT30r is nowhere near that size... so really easy to tell if its a 30r or 35r by measuring this... And an HTA wheel is easy to identify just by the looks... but i believe the exducer on those are even bigger than the regular 35r if im not mistaken. So if its at least the size of a standard 35r you know its not a 30r....

I took the valve cover off last night and everything up top looked fine. No broken rockers or springs. All spark plugs were fine.

No holes, or smoke billowing out the tail pipe.

It sounds like the knocking/tapping is coming from the top half of the motor.

We shall see what the culprit is in a few days.

?? How do u make the inducer smaller? 61mm inducer is standard 35r. The 2nd # indicates the exducer (eg 82mm 86mm) hta3586 (62mm(bored byFP) / 86mm). 3582r should be the same except obviously the exducer is 82mm
Sorry to hijack thread.... but that just didn't make sense...

To the OP hope the damage isn't too bad. Really interested in what failed since I'm in the same boat potentially... good luck.

The exact same thing happened to me a while ago with a green turbo on meth. The most positive note is that all my bearing where perfect. So the crank and block where 100% still usable. Good think you didnt keep driving it.. It will let go VERY VERY SOON! see that happen too

I called turbotrix yesterday morning and within an hour they had their truck at my house to pick up my car. Then this morning the car was already torn apart with the prognosis.

Broken piston from pre-ignition of meth I believe. I heard a lovely pop at redline and the poor stock piston couldnt handle the pressure. It also bent a valve.

Good new is the motor is salvageable for a forged internal rebuild. Ill be back in a week or so with more boost, more power, and a motor to handle the power.

Billet compressor wheel w/ better aero characteristics allows the smaller 59mm inducer w/ 82mm exducer hence HTA3582. HTA3586 is able to make a little more power due to the 62mm inducer. They both utilize the same turbine though.

Looks like a nice setup you got there. You should take it to englishtown dragway for some runs! Good luck with the new power.

ahh ok. I though both the 3582 and the 3586 had the same inducer just different exducers. Thx for the info
