S1's CBRD tuned (damn the heat)
the idle is not as smooth as stock but is not horrible. when chad tuned it, i told him to get it as close to stock as possible thinking that is what i wanted. when he was finished it had a slight lope and roughness to it that i would not change one bit. i love the way it sounds. to the average person it might go as nothing unusual, just aggressive, but an evo owner would be able to tell.

Damn, I have a set of s1's under the bed but considering a set of s2's now. Don't really know if I am gonna upgrade the turbo but its definately something I have been thinking about. My current setup is just a cbe, filter, dp and tune of course. I am curious to know if I get retuned with a licp, fuel pump, o2 housing, head studs and the s1's what kinda difference I will be feeling on the butt dyno??? Will it be worth the money as well?
Not trying to rob ur thread dude sorry!

So last tune(Winter) ..315awhp
310wtq
..with Tbe w/HFC, intake, MBC@22.5, 255pump........temp 47 humidity 4%
2 days ago..308whp
306wtq
..added GSC S1's, test pipe, AMS intercooler, UICP, LICPwith boost at 24.5 AFR 12.4.. temp...87 humidity 48%
I think Chad saw me reaching for tissues as I paced the floor but explained the heat effects on a dyno. Eveything was running on par no leaks but damn the heat!!
Still would trust these guys with my kids and always pleased with top notch service and chineese food.

I would go ahead with the S1's if your thinking stock turbo for sure. I noticed a difference ..scratch that a good difference..despite the warm weather. Is it wort the money to feel 10-12hp with cams...thats a personal finance choice. But the engine breathes better up top thats all i know for sure. Put in the cams and tune that bischhhh!!!

I am only runing 21 psi as well. I feel this car should have room for more power but we will see. One step at a time I guess. After this stage I will save for the a fmic, injectors, and a turbo if I am not satisifed.

i was depressed with my S1 performance until we ended up doing one of the last retunes on it and they really woke up then.
Honestly heat and humidity kils turbo cars. We all know this by now
Do meth and this will help for this weather

my experience with the S1's was that they weren't much more aggressive than the stock IX cams to justify the $$$. Especially since most of the stock turbo guys will one day be stepping up to a Green or Red, why spend the cash and not go for a somehwat larger cam?
I then switched over to Cosworth M2's and immediately picked up power across the entire rpm range (including a noticeable amount of low-end torque). This was surprising since the S1's were marketed towards more torque and more midrange for the daily driver (which is why I originally purchased them).
We had several Evo IX's in the Fayetteville, NC area experience similar results with switching over from S1's to the Cossies.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliations with either company, and I honestly wanted to be happy with the S1's.
Conclusion: Cosworth M2's are more aggressive all around and even add a nice lope at idle (up to your tuner, of course).
Good luck!
