Mustang Dyno steady state question
Ive been on a mustang dyno twice and I am heading back again in a month. I have had difficulties while trying to tune steady state and cruising speeds. I try to find MBT but the torque number fluxuates so much (anywhere from 5-10 ft lb of torque at a time) that I cant find the point where torque falls off. Is this a common occurance on a mustang dyno? I did some tuning on a 350z using a dynapack and the torque numbers were clear as day and MBT was easy to find. Any help would be appreciated!
Sorry if this question is in the wrong section.

Are you doing the steady state in the same gear you synched?
Since the dynapak is attached to the hubs you can basically set the dyno to maintain speed and load which I would imagine is easier for MBT tuning.
I've done some steady state MBT tuning on our mustang dyno and I did some fluctuation but nothing as broad as what you are describing. Maybe drink less coffee that day?

Don't use tow hooks to strap it down, try using control arms.. I do steady state on multiple mustangs and the only problem I have ever had is the pau making the rotor glow red hot and almost catching fire, but it still held
I have never had an issue with it and I have used it to steady state a lot.
Bryan may be right maybe something is off with the load cell on the dyno you are using?
Good luck.

It may be the dyno. I actually didnt set the dyno up. The owner did but he tunes a lot of stis and several evos. Im pretty sure it was set of for 4th gear and I did a bit in 3rd but even in 4th it still fluctuated a lot.
We use the control arms to strap it down. It doesnt get a lot of movement in cruising speeds. Unfortunetally I havnt had any coffee at that point! Maybe I should drink more!!
