Damn this is a bigger issue than I thought , there has to be an alternative to this. I'm not trying to spend 12-14k on a setup that isn't gonna last.

keep in mind, you're only hearing the negative mostly. There are countless people with no problems Pat. I can't count how many customers I have at 500+tq on the BR 2.0 it's very common for them to be trouble free.

It's taboo to talk about problems, especially being a "shop" but I prefer to be open and honest with customers rather than cover up potential issues.

If it was a luck thing then I'd think more people would have oil pumps failing with the stubby.....Not everyone is that lucky.

Still it the internet clouds things. Seems like its always split down the middle when it comes to the balance shaft delete.

Unless something changed I believe the Stage III comes standard with J&E pistons 10:1 and manley TT rods and assembled with an OEM crank. I had them go ahead and put my Stage III head on, pulleys, do the timing and a fresh oil pump. That way I know it's done to their spec

Any idea as to a possible cause of failure? What oil were you running and what'd the Timing belt tensioner look like?

Exactly what I planned on doing, I'm buying both at the same time.

not yet, haven't torn into it beyond pulling the oil pan. Valvoline VR1 racing oil. It had a new tensioner and belts

Dry sump would solve this, but then again who has 8k to spend on a oil pump?
