A mild comparison on O2 housings

I just got done doing my comparison of the megan O2 vs the titek V2 O2 vs the WORKS O2. The comparison wasnt testing for a couple reasons.

- it happen on different days, but the temps/weather conditions were all very similar during the pulls

- I dont own a real dyno and use VD for testing purposes. I do take multiple runs though, not just one pull and look at the average numbers too.

Car info - FP BLACK, HKS 280s, ETS 3.8 garret IC, WORKS DP, BR TP/CB, MBC, etc, etc, 91oct

*All O2 housings were cleaned up (very slightly ported) by me

**The MEGAN O2 was a BR coated version

Red dyno - Megan 02 housing, approx 60*, Peak boost - 26.7, boost at 7Krpm - 24.6, Did 5 pulls. Best was 410hp. All runs were 400-410hp

Blue dyno - Titek V2 02 housing, approx 60*, Peak boost - 26.7, boost at 7Krpm - 25.2, Did 5 pulls. Best was 406hp. All runs were 395-406hp

Green dyno - WORKS 02 housing, approx 50*, Peak boost - 27.1, boost at 7Krpm - 26.3, Did 4 pulls. Best was 432hp. All runs were 421-432hp

The WORKS O2 housing held more boost on top, despite near same peak boost and same MBC/WG settings. Also my AFR leaned out up top by about .5-.8, which usually represents more airflow is moving though the engine.

IMHO, a 3" outlet O2 housing can be better then a 2.5" outlet O2 housing, on a bigger stock frame turbo, like a BLACK/RED.

As I live in Cali, you wont be seeing me testing an O2 dump anytime soon.

I was thinking about getting/testing the Invidia, but Im not a fan of having to re route my O2 sensor.

And after doing this comparison, Im happy with my WORKS housing, so Ill be leaving it on as long as I run the BLACK.......

Thanks for posting your findings. Buschur tested an Invidia vs. an eBay (same as Megan's) and the Megan came out on top. This test shows another great product from WORKS though; I've been nothing but impressed with stuff from them, it all seems to be tested and backed by actual R&D.

Nice findings Jay very stealthy pieace, do you think it would give big gains over a ported megan on a hta green or bbk full since there not as high flowing as the black?

what kind of setup was that test done on? because i have seen nothing but great results from the invidia with bigger setups such as my own.

The only 2 things I dont like about invidia is:

#1. the having to reroute the o2 sensor wire (takes 5min but still shouldn't be required)

#2. The downpipe donut will not seal properly against the o2 flange unless you unhook the downpipe from the testpipe/cat and tighten down the downpipe first. (Very annoying)

Im willing to put $100 on the table to say if i put a megan o2 on my car id lose power.

But if I known the #2's things up above i wouldnt have bought it. #2 is very annoying.

BRs also tested the WORKS O2. His testing was done on an FP green (non-hta), which only flows 44-46lbs. In his testing, no one necessarily came out "on top" as there were all within 4hp/3tq of each other. I think DBs testing didnt find a gain from the bigger outlet because on a smaller turbo (less then 50lbs), a 3" outlet may not be that much better then the 2.5". But I feel on bigger turbos (50-55lbs +), the bigger outlet can be beneficial.

Since the HTAGreen and BBK-F are both low 50lbs turbos, I dont know how beneficial the move to a 3" O2 from 2.5" O2 would be. You may or may not see gains from the bigger outlet.

Also, I should mention that this comparison wasnt done to debunk DBs testing. It just kind happened. Then after the discussion of 3" vs 2.5" outlet came up in a current thread, I decide to post the info for everyone.
