S3s, stock ECU/SD, Black
Cameron has been coming down for tunes and work for the last few months since he got back from deployment. Recently he decided to add new cams to his stock motor with Black and ditch the HKS272s and MAF.
At the same time he made the call to go to E85 since it was available on base and as we all know far superior for performance. Cameron likes to look for deals so he had found some S2 cams from a member here, however when we opened the box they were S1s...about the same as what he already had. We tossed around the idea and pulled the S3 cams out of the racecar since it was going to be E85 and SD. We have experimented with these in stock 2.0L IXs and since they seemed to idle the same as S2s we hoped it would hold true in the VIIIs as well.
I wouldnt do these for anything less than a Black and I dont think they will work on a MAF car (since S2s can be tricky). The video will follow shortly of both startup, idle, and a pull showing what they are like in this application.
Mods-
2003 Evo VIII
Stock motor and intake
FIC 1450s
E85
ER 3.5" SD intake
Short route piping
TurboXS 3.5" intercooler
3" turbo back
TiTek O2 housing
GSC S3s
Supertech dual valvesprings
255lph pump
Omnipower 4 bar
ER SD tune
Since it was a stock motor and the goal was only 480, Cameron was very surprised to see the 495 on a fairly conservative tune. I was VERY surprised to see how broad the powerband was compared to what we normally see on Evos where it is a little more peaky. This is a dual mapped car, the S3s idle on the O2 trims on gasoline as well. It is very amazing to me how well they idle on a 2.0, where I expected they would be crazy even on a 2.4...I dont mind being wrong though

Forgot to add that the 419 at 24 was pump only, the "limp home map". We switched to E and turned the boost up (after fuel correction) for the 495. Basically the car only got a 1-2* past 6k and kept the pump timing down low to keep torque under control.
