stock 8 turbo, 23psi, 93octane

Normally I dont bother posting results from stock turbo customers anymore, but this customer wanted his results posted and I feel they are pretty solid numbers also since he has so little modifications. I was supposed to post this 2 weeks ago but forgot it, and just now seen it on my desktop.

Below are the mods:

lower ic piping
hks 272
evo 9 bov
walbro 255
3" catback exhaust / perrin hi-flow cat
act 6 puck
arp headstuds

The car has 65,000 miles on it and is a 2003 evo.

We didn't go higher then 23psi because the customer specifically stated he didn't want to go past 23psi. I ended up with a peak of 12* timing and asked him if he was happy and he said he was more then pleased and I asked if he wanted to proceed with more power and he declined.. so whether or not the vehicle would have gained from more timing i can not comment on. The car had 11* by 7k and 12* by 7300rpm. No map sensor on this car, so no luxury of logging boost unfortunately.

Here is the graph below:

no i dont sorry. if yours is falling off uptop its probably not lean enough plus maybe not enough timing. it should at least hold a flat line when its ran in its efficiency range.

It's been tuned by two different reputable tuners and still falls off to like 235 at the top end from 290 (dyno dynamics). Top end a/f is is approx 11.8. The graph is smooth but just seems to run out of efficiency.

I'm not sure whether my next step should be open o2 dump, cams, or a 10.5 hot side

I'm running 24psi tapering to 21 at redline

Nice numbers is my car . I have owned RX7(too loud, unreliable, can't be driven daily), MR2( nice ride unable to obtain enough power) and M3( nice and smooth, to expensive to mod)
My Evo was tuned before and i will be polite and won't make any comments but it was a lot to be desired. (bucking, bad idle, stalling)
Tom was kind enough to take a look at my Rom and made recommendations.
The only thing i did was to install the wide-band and start the logging process. Tom was patient, showed me how to configure Evoscan, configured my laptop, explained the changes, like timing, ARF, knock. The vehicle idles like stock, i can feel the power without hesitation and a smooth ride overall.
I'm very please with my results, reliability and power. Tom is knowledgeable and honest tuner , Thanks so much for all your help and professionalism, i'm looking forward to my next tune on a HTA Green and E85.

Best Regards,

Rob
