Boost leak test at 40psi?

So i have an 03 evo. I just went to boomba the other day and was gonna get a tune. Before the tune we did a boost leak test and the owner of the shop pressurized the system to 40psi. Now to me thats excessive. And now my car wont run right. Im still on stock turbo, injector, etc. Let me know if this seems high to you

Unless your going to run 40psi it's not necessary and unneeded.

But those that run high boost certainly would want to make sure it's leak free at their desired boost level.

Did they tune the car?
Do you have a CEL on now?
Did they find/fix any boost leaks?

get it done again - sounds like there is a leak now or vac line blown off. 40psi is ok, unless they held it at 40psi????? i test mine up to 35, but i dont hold it there. if the system is fully leak free on 35psi it takes around 3-4 minutes to go to 0.

i spent all day replacing clamps and throttle body gasket and never even got a tune. I have a check engine light p0300. I only wanted to run like 20-23 lbs.

It's not big deal, it's not like 40 psi is going to hurt anything, it probably just blew a hose off.

Check all your vacuum hoses, especially the ones on the back side of the intake manifold. Then ziptie them. 40psi is a bit high, but it's not going to "hurt" anything. It might blow some of your vacuum lines off, swell your couplers, or make a hell of a bang if a coupler comes off, but it's not going to catastrophically destroy anything. After you find which vacuum line popped off, your car will run better.

Next, have them flash the P0300 fix. It's too easy and been around so long now that there's no reason for anyone to still be getting that annoying code.

Although you might be frustrated chasing TB shaft leaks and small leaks at couplers, I can't really fault your tuner for having you do this. If he were to throw you on the dyno with all those leaks you'd just be wasting your money on a tune and over working the turbo trying to make boost at a faster rate than it's leaking.
