GM 3 Port or Boost Pill #65

I have the usual mods intake, exhaust, downpipe and LICP

I'm not looking to boost past 23 psi on 91 oct so I wanted to ask if you would do a gm 3port or #65 boost pill and stock solenoid?

what are the

PROS

and

CONS to each?

who's good at tuning each?

oh I searched but found info directed to each method and not a direct comparison

I've run both. For ease of tuning and applying WGDC corrections I would recommend the GM unit. The fact that you don't run any kind of pills and boost changes are as simple as increasing or lowering the number in the table make that option a no brainer. It's cheap and reliable.

GM 3port or any other 3port FOR SURE.

The 3port is more precise and consistent then the stock solenoid with a modified pill. Also, like Jeff said, tuning is easier with a 3port.

In all ways, the 3port is better. The only "pro" that the stock solenoid/modded boost pill would have would be that it is cheaper, since you already own the solenoid and a pill is only 10-20$.

I can tune both, but prefer to tune 3port setups.

3port because you live in cali like i do, and the risk of bein at a car meet and someone unknowingly turns up the knob on your mbc, plus that and cops dont know what a 3port looks like compared to stock. Buy a 3port so you dont have to solder in your gm3port... ive gone profec b spec 2 ebc, now on a dejon tool, and swappin to a gruppe s 3 port

people actually do that? i never had that happen to me before. i have a good alarm system tho.

stock bcs is a bleeder style system which is no comparison to a good 3 port in interrupt mode. you will have way more control over the boost curve with a 3 port then the stock bcs.

if someone can tune one solenoid they can tune the next.. they are all tuned the same, and are controlled by wgdc when its all said and done.

dastallion im curious why you choose the gruppe 3 port?

GM 3 port does not need to be "soldered in"

There are P&P harnesses available.

$40 for the GM 3 port and $20 for the harness

Can it be mounted in the stock location or does it need a special bracket?

Any pics of mounting options?

And yes I live in cali where a good ref will check EVERYTHING, so I don't want to zip tie things

well if ur at a big enough car meet, ive had my hood popped open during it, although my dejon tool rests between the filter and the fog list on driverside headlight.. so really accessable, i chose the gruppe s 3port cuz thats what my tuner recommended in addition to doin some of my own research the gruppe s 3 ports are on a lot of cars that made good power, i get a high boost spike and good amount of taper on my dejon tool, even tried enlarging the taper hole to hold more it picked up 2 psi. But in the end tscompusa, i wanna hold better boost to redline, id rather have a 1psi taper then 4.5 psi taper. All im tryin to make is 70 more hp with some mods im doin soon, plus the 3port im hopin for 450, but even my tuner told me realistically i might make 420 on pump which id be happy with.
And Bryan I had heard that there were plug n play harnesses, but for the longest time people would have to solder them to the ecu. So thats why i didnt recommend a gm 3 port. But hey to each there own theres 100 ways to skin a cat, i like mine with a machete haha

The GruppeS 3port is just a pierburg (used on VW/Audi, etc). Same thing you can get from Tactrix and many others.
