Cool Mellon Racing * GARY'S EVO 7 TUNING STREET BEAST SESSION HTA35R PUMP/ C16

Working for Mellon Racing has given me the opportunity to meet new people in the racing scene , help many customers with there projects and also to build my car over the years .
I decided recently to set a Goal for my Personal Evo 7 , wich i call evo 8 cause i have changed almost every part on it to make it an evo 8

The goal was to build an evo that could do 600hp on Pump gas and 700+ on Race Gas , i have used many turbos in the past from the green , red, black etc......
So i wanted to test out first the HTA3582 Turbo .82 to see if we can reach my temporal personal goal , before we move on to the other turbos i will be using and testing.

With Mellon Racing's and David Buschurs Help we made a plan and these are the parts that are on the evo at this moment .

EVOLUTION 8 on Stock ecu + Stock Maf
Buschur Racing 2.0 stage 3 Motor
Buschur Racing Stage 3 Head
Buschur Racing 272 Camshafts
Buschur Racing HTA3582R .82 Tubular Turbo Kit
Buschur Racing Intake
Buschur Racing Ported Intake Manifold
Buschur Racing Ported TB 65mm
Buschur Racing LightWeight Battery
Buschur Race Intercooler
Buschur Racing Intercooler pipes
Buschur Racing Full Exhaust
Buschur Racing Fuel Rail
Buschur Racing Double Pumper
Buschur Racing BushWacker Tranny
Buschur Racing LightWeight Parts
FIC 21500cc Inj.
Exedy Triple Disc Clutch
Sparktech

So i got all the parts installed and we now started the Tuning Process , Injectors dialed in , Boost leak test done , and let the tuning begin .

********* PUMP GAS TUNE *********

Can we reach our Goal ?

20PSI
This is 20 psi and its at 497hp and 373TQ this is on Pump Gas

24PSI
Im feeling the pressure from the people on the forum asking for more boost so i ended up moving to 24psi still on PUMP GAS i want to continue tommorow in order to increase the boost in it

26PSI
Moved up to 26psi on Pump Gas and the horsepower is still moving up

Today i want to boost it up and try to reach our goal on this Turbo , Ill crank it up to 30psi and try to see if we can reach our goal.
Got some pm,s of members asking me to booost it up so LETS DO THIS !!!!!!! If for some reason the car dosent take the 30psi and i have to back off boost then we will try our best to make power on what the car can handle .

UPDATED

We increased the boost on the Car and had a blast , all i can say is
WE REACHED THE GOAL 600hp !!!!!!!!!!!! @ 30 PSI
The Car pulls extremely Hard and its on Pump Gas !!!!!

I love how the car handles nice street manners , thick powerband
30PSI

********* RACE GAS TUNING C16*********

***********UPDATED **********
WE NOW TUNE ON C-16 WE HOPE TO GET THE CAR INTO OUR NEXT GOAL WICH IS 700HP+ Territory

30PSI on a Rich AFR C16

30PSI with a Good AFR C16

35PSI on C16

38PSI on C16

Tweaking it out More !!!!!

42 PSI ON C16 IS MAKING 736HP 593TQ

I would like to Thank the people that have helped me with my project , Chris aka Mellon, David Buschur, Nick and Dan at Buschur , Kelley , Kevin , my Lead Mechanic Karel Munoz aka "4G63 Specialist" , Kenneth C. , Clevengs Ortiz at EVP , Robert at Forced Performance , FIC Crew , BILL from MAP , Sparktech , Giro Disc .

Well these are 2 example of well prepped evos at high horsepower on Pump Gas

This is an interesting comparison of the HTA82 on my car vs the HTA86 turbo on Chris evo at the same boost level, you can see that the mid range is making much more power the bigger turbo blue line doesn’t have any advantage at high rpm where it counts for drag racing much better torque also on this Turbo.

Its the Sparktech CDI

Spark Tech Pro CDI 12 System
•billet light weight wrinkle black/ polished aluminum mounting plate,
•stock/aftermarket ecu,
•2channel
•tested over 1000HP

Id say the fuel is like 91 Octane or close to 92 octane

Thanks

Ah ok that's great power for such a low octane, can't wait to see the progress on this.

That is absolutely astonishing power for that little boost. What compression on the motor? Surprisingly good spool too, the torque comes on pretty early and maintains a great torque shelf. Impressive to say the least.
