Mellon Racing – John’s EVO 8 * Garret 3076 Turbo * 411Hp @ 27 Psi

Name: John
Forum Name: Scrives
Location: Honolulu Hawaii
2003 EVO 8 5-speed USDM
Garret 3076 Turbo
PTE 880 Injectors
GSC S1 Camshafts
Wideband O2
3" Turboback
Intake pipe, Cone filter, FMIC
92 octane @ 27 Psi
VD 411Hp/351Tq ****was 290/235 old tuner*****

The car was tuned before by someone else and was making 290hp/ 235TQ wich for us was low going by the mods on the car , we went ahead and started to correct some of the drivability issues the car had , we then moved up to setting the boost and got up to 27psi with the S1 Cams and Gt3076R Turbo and we got 411Hp / 351Tq not bad for new found Power .

Very nice!

I am running a sort of similar set up. I am hoping that i make more power though.

Supertech Dual Springs and retainers+272 Kelfords
ETS 58 Trim turbo kit (recirculated)
full 5zigen exhaust
PTE 880cc injectors
FMIC and ETS full hard piping+intake pipe
Buschur racing ported intake manifold and throttle body
255 walbro (planning to upgrade to a full blown)
aem ems v1

20psi on 91 Octane. Race gas will be Q16 hoping to run 30+psi. Really wish i had more info on this turbo (ETS 58trim) yes ive had it a while!

yeah, Gary and I have been talking about making our way towards Costa Rica and Puerto Rico recently. Give Gary a shout gary@mellonracing.com and maybe we can get something going. I know we had another guy inquire from PR recently as well.

haha barely, it doesn't take long to wrap up to 8000rpm. Frances aka flo kept saying after each pull as I increased the power "daaaaamn!" "this is crazy" Then I told him we've got 60 more awhp to go and he just about fell out of his seat in shock

very interesting setup you've got there with the 58 and the aem ems. It's a shame you aren't on the stock ecu/maf we could get you setup with a beautiful tune via email.

John's 30R car should do about 500awhp at full tilt on race gas or e85 but he's more of a pump gas warrior for now. He was going to sell the car because of how poorly it was running but I think he's quickly decided to hold on to it for a bit longer and enjoy the new life it's been given.

Good numbers Gary!!!, my old setup was similar, Arty from Panama tune me and make 350whp at 21psi, You and Arty are really very good tuners.

Here in Costa Rica not many people tune your cars like other countries, here go up the boost but not well-tuned their cars, with my project, I want to demonstrate that a good tuning can make the car more reliable and get more power, many of my friends do not understand that.

luck with your projects!!!
