Are My Numbers Low?

I am Running:

-FP Red
-Greddy Exhaust
-Walbro 255LP
- Speed Density
-ETS Front Mount and Piping (Long Route)
-Precision 1000CC

At English We Made Max 370whp and 341Tq

I was Hoping/Expecting to make at Least 400

post a graph please. What did ER say? Those guys know more about Evos than all of us combined, so I would be asking them what they think since they worked with the car. Who did the wrenching?

At first they said it was really low, and then they said it might be normal for a 8 on Stock Cams

And I bought the Car with everything but the Speed Density English installed that and Tuned it, Car Had a Previous Tune done By PRE and Previous Owner Said the car Made 460Whp and it felt some what faster before, But I wouldnt trust a car tuned by anyone other then English and I also had doubts that it ever made 460 im just woundering what a 8 with a fp is suppose to run

^^could be...spool looks great, shape of the curve is normal...tq is low but relatively flat. Peak boost looks to be 27psi or so?? Its not unusual for cams to pick up 30hp...especially on upgraded turbos coming from stock cams. I can recall a few months ago someone running an FPred on 91 who considered his 400whp a tremendous success...I think cams will get you very close to that

you are making 400 but its not showing that because its uncorrected. Most people running the dynojet with corrected like STD so the numbers are higher. Nothing wrong with those numbers for what you have. Also, what does it trap is the better question

Hey guys thanks for the vote of confidence. We only have 92 in WA.

Per issues-

First, PRE doctors their dyno and without a dyno sheet to prove 460 its kinda hard to say. Second we didnt pre dyno the car so I am not sure what it really put down before we did the clutch and then tuned the car. Third was it all the same parts or was it on meth when it did the 460whp?

Stock cams are a large limitation on these cars. We checked for boost leaks, cam timing, and any obvious problems. The turbosmart MBC could be giving you issues as you stated that it seems it was only making 15psi in low gears (I dyno'd in 3rd on the dyno) and somehow 26psi in 5th.

I looked for a bunch of reasons why it was down on the dyno and thought it was either stock cams or out of time. Popping the oil cap showed hollow cams so we are pretty sure they are stock. They could be Helix or older regrinds so its hard to say if they were stock (or worse). Timing was good, AFR is flat, the powerband looks good but its low.

Simon,

My recommendation would be bring it back and let us spend time with it which is what we had originally planned (you were going to come back down with Luke yesterday from what I was told the original plan was) and we can spend more time with it. Getting a WB in there is something we require to have the boost high so you can carefully monitor it. Since there wasnt one we left it at 27 on the spike and it tapers to 24. I am pretty sure I have the logs still so if anyone doubts that the tune was pushed I can show it was.

Not saying it doesnt make the power it should, but with less than one day to inspect the car its hard to pinpoint why.

Thanks

Aaron

Yea..... if it's uncorrected, that is real.

Corrected is fantasy land, drive around in a bubble.

Your quote made me giggle. Thanks.

Aaron,

I am just here trying to see if the numbers seem good to people ( I dont know what a FP on stock cams is suppose to make), I have no Doubt what so ever that I'm tuned properly. There is a reason I brought it to English and you guys went above and beyond in helping me. {thum bup}{ thumbup} To English Racing this is not a bad thread I promise! I am happy with the work

Best description I have heard

To the OP, Don't chase a number, chase the feeling or area under curve.
