evo 8 tuned by tscompusa

skip to bottom if u just want to see results.

i bought this 2004 evolution 8 in august of last year, i had no idea how an evo was supposed to run. to make a long story short i bought this one thinking that it just needed a re tune and some love. well i was wrong, the car had a blitz ebc hooked up on the dash but no matter what setting it was on it would not change a thing. i look under the hood and what do i see? the wastgate and turbo outlet tubes are just dangling there without any boost control what so ever!!! the car had an old greddy type-s on it and man did it buck on the highway. the car also had an aem intake with the iat hole plugged with the head of a screw. now after replacing the BOV with a synchronic unit i was driving along and testing it on the highway when all of the sudden i hear a grinding/dragging noise and pull off to the side. im looking around at everything and it all looks normal... so i decided what the hell ill remove the intake. well a bunch of glitter fell out and this is what i was left with:

The screw that was jammed in the iat hole got sucked in to the turbo. needless to say, id like to punch the previous owner in the face really really bad. i replaced the turbo with another evo8 unit and fixed all boost leaks. the car still continued to run like crap and really rich so i figured it was time to get a tune. tscompusa made a few adjustments and thats the first run. the second run is at 26psi and fully tuned.

thank you TSCOMPUSA!

mods are:
turbo xs 3.5" intercooler and stock route pipes
10.5 hotside, tomei expreme O2 housing and downpipe
EBay 3" catback with test pipe and magnaflow muffler
works TB, synchronic DV, AEM intake (sucks! it hits the fan causing false knock!!)
spoolinup COP, Hallman MBC, Walbro 255

i dont know why the afr is so messed up but at least it shows how it ran before.

i dont know, when the intake came off the screw and a bunch of glitter looking metal came out. that piece was jammed into the wheel and i never got it out. the previous owner might have put it in there to sabotage me but who knows. the car had t bolt clamps everywhere except the worm clamp holding on the intake, but thats still on the car so????

Well whatever got stuck in there was made in the good ole USA. My issues with my evo were more serious thans yours. Warped Flywheel, head gasket leak into cylinder 1, suspension shot.

Was this on a stock evo 8 turbo with just a 10.5 hs? Good numbers and around 380 if you ever go to e85

stock evo 8 with evo 9 10.5 single flapper hotside. i take my numbers with a grain of salt since virtual dyno is just a measure for tuning. id assume im around 330awhp and 315awtq on a dynojet. shes soo much fun now and i cant imagine how its gonna be after i install my evo9 turbo, Gsc s2's, and chad from CBRE's ported Skunk2 IM/Full blown TB.

Congrats on good running car. Most of the time when u buy a used car, they have problems. I tried to buy a one owner car and still had to deal with good amount of problems that I had to repair. Good luck

That is most definitely part of a hose clamp.

^^^ not really an upgrade if he just replaced it with another evo 8 turbo. maybe the 10.5 was the "upgrade"

lol that would be the fragments of the turbine and the screw. seriously looked like glitter...

and sujinx is correct it was replaced with another evo 8 turbo with 10.5 hotside. i have an evo9 turbo just waiting to go on with the cams, intake, etc.

the afr is reading something else in your dyno sheet. ill check the logs you sent me.. also theres alittle more in this car yet its on the rich side.

but you're welcome.. and that turbo looks crazy.. looks like fuel hose clamp or worm clamp got in there and the turbo didnt want to stop spinning and completely ate it up.
