evo 8 - fp black dbb - 93oct

4.27.12 - little more boost and leaner afr and cooler temps outside:

smoothing 3 = 459
smoothing 5 = 456
smoothing 8 = 454
smoothing 10 = 454

================================================== ==

Sharing this awhile.. will tweak it a little more and post more results of progress, but not to much info on the fp black ball bearing turbos on here so figured id share this awhile.

Car is just a stock block 2.0L, no mivec or any of that good stuff. working on about 3 other ball bearing blacks also right now. displacement varies though.

Mods are:

Ball Bearing FP Black w/oil line kit, 18psi WG
Kelford 272s w/Kelford beehive titanium retainers and springs
PTE 780cc injectors
GM 3 Port ECU Controlled boost
JDM 3 bar Map Sensor
QTP 3” Downpipe w/cutout
JM Fab O2 housing/w O2 dump
HKS Carbon Fiber Catback
Invidia 3” Test Pipe
Walbro 255lph fuel pump
AGP 3.5inch Intercooler
ARP head studs
Synchronic BOV
Injen intake and full intercooler piping
Boomba Racing Fuel Rail
ACT Street Clutch w/Flywheel

Results for now.. (touches 32psi for a split second and i tuned it to taper down to 26 by redline.)

smoothing 2:

smoothing 10:

will update more as we progress to show final #'s once its finalized.

heres the boost plot & other info.. you can see it spools real nice for a 2.0L

cars also out of injector almost.. 114% at 7700RPM. can lean it out some more though so that duty % will decrease a bit.

I think so... or atleast hope so. i will offer him to retune it free with bigger injectors if he does it asap, since its pretty important.

I dont know if he can do e85 or not, it was just a 93oct paid tune for now. ill have to ask him.

thanks

Yup bigger injectors and E-85 probably in 3-4 months! But, waiting til I get everything for the new build so I can run the setup to the max. Right now these injectors are decent for the stock block I think.

I'm definitely going to come back for the E-85 tune! Just waiting for many parts to get here to finish the build. I still have a lot of exhaust restrictions that'd hold me back if I go with E-85 right now like the stock IM/EM, hks catback that tapers to 2.5 at the flange, injen licp. Once I change these out with bigger better parts E-85 will be fun! Also it's been a breeze working with Tom with the tune. Since he and I been busy just been sending logs here and there. I've learned so much in the tuning process, I think i even know how to tweak some of the maps now. Can't wait to see the ending results of the tune aswell, Thanks much Tom!

That is pretty impressive that you made peak torque around 4500 RPM on the stock 2.0.

Let me just say! today This new Shelby with some loud pipes kept messing with me while I was planning to do some pulls to lean out the AFRs....Stoplight turned red, and it was a guy in his mid 50s with his hot daughter, the guy asked me, "does that fart can make that little mitsubishi fast?" and he starting revving, In my head I thought oh hell no... soooo I launched on him when the light turned green and *Smiley face* looked in my rear view after second gear watching him loosing traction lol, I stopped after third gear though. Next stop light he says damn boi what's in that thing? - Me : oh nothing just a couple bolt-ons and a great tune that were still messing with, and a driver mod. Sorry to say though, I didn't get to finish logging some pulls and i had to go to work -.-.

Will have to get a new 93pump/E-85 tune from you in a couple months after upgrades.Waiting on a couple parts to come in! FIC 1650s, JMF ex manifol, map rev3 im, double pumper, catch cans, better LICP, also cutting out the 2.5 taper on the hks catback piping to a full 3". I'd like to see what gains I get from these parts before I put the built block in!

Built bottom end is going to be nasty with the black especially if you get a stroker!

Playing roulette with the engine imo!
Running a secondary pump should get in a bit more ignition in aswell as bigger injectors.
