Car tuned on Sunoco 110, problem running Shell URT ADV 116?
The Evo I'm planning on getting is currently tuned on Sunoco 110 leaded. I was building a street/drag car and bought a barrel of Shell URT Advanced (unleaded C16 equivilent).
My question is; can I run the Evo with the Shell URT even though it's tuned for the Sunoco 110? Will I have problems? If so, I'll sell the Shell URT and just run what it was tuned for, but if the higher octane wont cause any problems, and just make it a little safer, then I'll run what I have.
Thanks guys.

but going to a higher octane fuel wont hurt anything.
you should be ok. just watch the AFR on the c16. if it remains the same then its fine. raising the octane will just make it safer.
leaded kills sensors and is not friendly to some seals etc. unleaded is much better also.
ive never did what you're doing, so i dont speak with experience on the subject, but i believe what i said above should be accurate information.

I was told the higher octane race gas would throw the tune off..
I originally thought it would just make it safer, but after some research I guess I would have to get it retuned. Not something I want to do as the leaded 110 is much more attainable and not to mention cheaper.
If it's okay to run, then I'll just use it up. If not, I guess Ill sell this barrel for cheap.
Any more opinions??

They are both non-oxygenated fuels so it shouldn't affect your afr's much if at all. Your oxygen sensors will be happier with the unleaded imo.

If that was the case about higher octane.... all us track guys that run 93/91 and spike a half tank with 100 at the track for extra detonation protection are wrong.

I think it is a waste of money to add it though it may make others feel like their car is "safer." The better option in my opinion is to remove a degree of timing and add 0.1 or 0.2 afr to the tune.
Plus if it won't affect the way the car drives THAT much, then I can just run it with the same tune.
From my experience, adding race fuel to 93 oct actually causes the car to make less power. This was "verified" with Virtual Dyno this past year on my car.

I appreciate all the responses. Thanks guys!
