We took the car out on Sunday for the Evo/STI event at Etown. The plan was to make a low boost hit to make sure the launch control, AFR was good, and that the car goes straight/pulls clean since there were so many changes done to it. After the first pass if all was good we would raise the boost and I would no lift shift the car to try and run a good number. Unfortunately luck was not on my side as I popped the clutch clip on the first pass. The car had a clutch fork stop on it and the clip still came out. Oh well, thats racing. I will be pulling the trans and installing the new clutch clip/TOB setup to ensure that this never happens again. I stopped at the scales while I was at the track. It weighs 3345 with me in it. I'm 190lbs.

When you say new clutch/clip, are you meaning just a fresh piece, or is there something actually new you are doing?

I am going to change it to something new I am doing. Unfortunately when the trans came out today we saw that it ripped the entire piece off the fingers of the cover plate. So I need to either get real creative of just put a new cover plate on it.

I dont like the Quartermaster. They don't last and the driveablity to me is horrible on the street. I ran the same Exedy triple disc for 3 full seasons. It took the abuse of hundreds of 25+psi antilag launches and still had tons of life after I pulled it out and measured everything. The discs and plates are in my RX7 now. This particular clutch has been in the car since it was built in 2006 so its treated the owner well. The Quartermaster would probably have had to be rebuilt 4 times already. I fixed the cover today and put the clutch back together so we will see how it holds up.

Have you tried the OS Giken triple? or maybe convert your Exedy to push type?

Have not tried the OS Giken triple but I have heard good things. I fixed the cover plate so I am going to stick with the pull type Exedy for now.
